Sorry, no snazzy NL Champs image because I couldn't find one on SFGiants.com, but I doubt many of you Giants fans care, since you already know that they're the champs. The Giants pulled an improbable win over the previous champions of the National League of Professional Baseball Clubs, two years running, and now they face the other underdog out of the American League, the Texas Rangers. Also, enjoy it while you can, Iro and Nuju Metru. Because your team is never assured of another trip to the Fall Classic--the Giants could be the next team to go on a hundred-year drought, or it could go the same way for the Texas Rangers, just as it did for my Cubbies.
The World Series, to me, is the hardest sports final in all of sports to win, rather than the Stanley Cup Final, as the NHL often boasts, since it is so hard to get there. There is no salary cap, so if you're in a big market, and make smart signings, you can create a Yankee-like dynasty much easier than in other sports, where two years from now a last-place team may win the Cup. Also, unlike other sports, there are only two rounds of the playoffs, so it's more likely that you will face better teams than in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where although you have to win sixteen games, they may be against the eighth-best team in your conference, rather than the second-best.
That is why the Commissioner's Trophy, the ultimate prize since the St. Louis Cardinals first won it a little less than sixty years ago, is the hardest trophy in all of sports to win, and now the Giants are just four wins away from it. And the man who helped them more than any other? Cody Ross. Ross proved to be a NLCS hero in game 1, when he hit two home runs off of Doc Halladay (granted, he had an injury that kept him from his best game, but he's still Doc Oc (Doctor October 
), the man who threw a no-hitter in his first MLB playoff game). Ross continued to come up with big hits in that series and became as much a offensive hero as likely Rookie of the Year, Buster Posey. Congratulations to Cody Ross, the NLCS MVP.
Now, sorry Giants fans, here comes the prediction, and you won't like it.
