Saturday Haul - Lawyer Edition

Jedi Master J.

Hey, folks. I thought I pop in sharing what I got in mail last Saturday since well, why not.

So uh, here is a picture of my haul from Saturday. As you can tell from picture, I brought a bunch of DS games from Phoenix Wright series. Why did I buy them? Because my boss always say I should be a lawyer due to my attention to detail skills, so I thought "hey, let play a lawyer situlatior then."

lol Okay, that's not the real reason. My real reason for getting it was because I try to Dual Destinies demo awhile back and I thought "Hey, this looks interesting. Maybe I should give the series a look."

And well, as you can see above, I ended up deciding to buy all four previous games (Not including Dual Destinies, which I might buy later, if other games keep my interest.) in the series. So far, I am on near the end of the third case in the first one and I am liking it, so I hadn't regret make this purchase yet. I guess I could keep you folks posted on that, if you want.

Oh, and I am probably not going to be playing Pokemon at all this week due to these games since I kind want to try to push myself to get through most of them this week, if possible. We'll see how well that goes. XD

Alright, so beside the games, I also got my copy of The Search, Part 3 and man, I thought it was good. I especially like how it humanize Zuko's mother. I won't say anymore than that, so I don't spoil things for you folks. But yeah, I certainly like the series. I am looking forward to Toph's trilogy next year.

That's all I really have to talk about, folks. I guess I can take this time though to remind you that I am hosting some raffles and all you got to do to enter is leave a comment in the entry. So yeah, if you want some free TNG Miru or a BZPower shirt, you should probably check that out.

Alright, with that said, thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a great day. Talk to later, BZPers.

I read a two paragraph summary of The Search...

I was intrigued by what I read, but I really feel it's something I need to read first-hand. A friend I talked to earlier had the exact same thing told to him (read it yourself) when inquiring about it.

Now if only I was into buying comics/graphic novels...

I rented my copies from the library, but I haven't gotten the third one yet. Didn't know Toph was getting a trilogy, though. Here's hoping it ties into the Legend of Korra a bit more.

Trials and Tribulations FTW! (To me it's the equivalent of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, AKA the best game in an entire series in my opinion in terms of story).

Anyway, I'm really interested in The Search. I've heard The Promise wasn't too great, though I've never actually read it. XP

As far as comic books go I'm not the greatest visual novel collector, although I probably will end up buying a copy (probably the hardback version if I find a decent price).

Have fun with Phoenix Wright! I got caught up with the series over the past year (sans Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which is nigh-impossible to find anywhere), and I loved every minute of it. I'd go so far as to say I've never played such a well-written series as Ace Attorney in my life. I just beat Dual Destinies recently as well, so now I'm going to continue working through Professor Layton (another DS series I missed out on in its heyday).

I thought the ending of The Search was decent, especially with how it leaves Azula's fate open-ended. She could live the rest of her life in that forest in misery, or she could reinvent herself completely, and if she does return, she doesn't have to be recognizable to anyone, since she could just as easily leave with a new face and her life a blank slate.

@ET: Hm...You could always rent it from library, you know. =P

It’s also available as an eBook on Amazon, so you could read it there (Its not too expense really. About 6 to 7 bucks on Amazon for each book.).

Hm...Or if you want, I could maybe send you my copy of books. I wouldn't mind doing that for ya.

@Dorek: Ah, I see. Yeah, a friend of mine also rent them from his library.

But anyway, yeah, judging from artwork at end of this book, it definitely seem like the next series will be focusing on Toph. I don't know the exact specifics though.

@Tekulo: While I did like The Promise, I do have agreed that it was not amazing. Why? Because it try tell too many stories at once and as result, the development of characters and story progress kind felt flat in places (To me at least).

With the Search though, the focus is completely on journey of finding Zuko's mother with little flashbacks of past here and there. So I do feel they did a better job in story department with this trilogy.

I would definitely recommend you check it out, especially if you are like me and you were wondering what exactly happen to Zuko's Mother and you were kind of angry at the writers for writing in that plotline at last minute and cliffhanging it at the end of series.

@Lyichir: Ah, I see. Well, I am having fun with the series so far. I am currently on the last case of the first game and I agree with it, it definitely seems like it is well-written series.

Ah, yeah, the Professor Layton series. That's definitely something else I got to check out at some point myself.

Yeah, I agree with you. The ending was decent. Although I will admit that I didn't actually catch that part about Azula's fate at the time. Since for some reason, I thought her escaping was just writers trying to set up a future plotline involving her in these comics.

Now that I heard your take on it though, I definitely see what you mean about her fate really be open-ended here. And I don't mind that actually. Although part of me does hope she reinvent herself, so she can at least have some sort of happy ending instead being miserable for rest of her life.
