New PC & Ace Attorney Games...

Jedi Master J.

Hey, folks. I thought pop in again to let you know that I got my new PC last Wednesday.

Yeah, I know I am kind of late to talk about this (Technically I did say it was coming in last entry though.). But well, I was busy playing around with it, so I didn't really bother to go on BZPower for past few days.

Eh...To be honest, I don't have a lot to talk about it really. Outside of well, it looks like it can run the majority of Steam games, so I might be more active there now. Although I doubt I'll be playing a lot of multiplayer stuff on there since I doubt anyone wants to do that stuff with me really. And beside, I tend to play mostly single-player games anyway. *shrugs*

Oh, and this PC is Windows 8, which got say after four days with it, it actually doesn't seem too bad. I mean I am not saying it is greatest interface for a computer in the world as honestly I rather have Windows 7 as OS instead. But well, I have managed to get it to work for my purposes, so I can't complain. (Its kind of funny that I can get the hang of Windows 8 in a way. But if you ask me how to use a smartphone, I would be completely clueless. XD)

Hm...You know it kind of weird that even though I can play my Steam games now, I hadn't really play any games on my PC really, outside of Gone Home (Which yes, I know some would argue that is not really a game per say. But well, I liked it. I thought it was a fun little exploration game with an interesting story. *shrugs*).

I am not sure why really. I guess it might be because I don't have a controller that can work on a PC (I find keyboard controls to be a bit of pain, especially WASD for movement. That might just because I don't know how to type properly.), so I am kind of waiting till I get one before I actually play more of my Steam library.

Well, I guess the other reason that I hadn't been playing much of my Steam library is probably because I jumped back into Ace Attorney series this week and man, I am loving these games. I just beat Justice For All yesterday and that last case was great. Oh, and I am actually playing Trials and Tribulations while I write this; so yeah, I been kind of hooked on these games lately. XD

That's all I really have talk about here today. Well, I guess while I am here, I should mention that no, I have not seen the LEGO Movie since I was planning on waiting till 22nd when BZPower Virigina meetup for it is going to happen (Although considering how bad the weather has been lately, I kind doubt I'll be able to make it. *shrugs*). So yeah, no spoilers, please.

Alright, thanks for taking time to read this, folks. I hope you all have a great day. Talk to you later, BZPers.

Ace Attorney is a fantastic series. My twin brother got into it last year and we had a blast trying to figure out the various cases together. The latest game, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies was every bit as good as those that had come before.

I wish this series were as popular here in the United States as it is in Japan! Over there, it's wildly successful, and there have been great things to capitalize on that success like soundtrack CDs and even a live-action movie! My brother and I watched the movie on New Year's Eve — it's good, but there are some things that would make it difficult to release in the US, such as the music being very quiet and the sheer amount of overacting. Think about all the weird stuff you see in anime, like characters falling to the ground when they hear something shockingly stupid, and then think how much weirder it would be in live action. That basically sums up the experience of watching the Ace Attorney movie.

Yeah, Ace Attorney is great. Personally, I just finished the most recent Professor Layton game last week (also a good series), so I'll be ready when the sixth game comes out at the end of this month, and when the crossover between it and Ace Attorney comes out later this year!

Don't feel like you have to put off seeing The Lego Movie for my meetup, by the way. If you do, you'll probably be the only one there who hasn't seen it. And I can pretty much guarantee that seeing it once won't make seeing it again any less special (I say this having already seen it twice myself!).

@Aanchir: Yeah, it definitely a fantastic series. I can't wait till to I get to Dual Destinies (Although at my pace, it will probably take enough month or so to get to that game. XD).

But yeah, I agreed with you that it would be nice if it was more popular here in states.

@Lyichir: Ah, I see. Yeah, I was actually planning on checking out the Professor Layton series at some point since I did rather like what I saw in the Miracle Mask game, which I have played a bit of awhile back (I planned to go back to it after I got through the DS titles first.).

As LEGO Movie thing, I do realized that if I wait till then I probably will be only one that hasn't seen it.

However if I did manage to get down there (Which might not be possible, if the weather is terrible that day.), I would be going with a friend, who also probably has not seen it yet. So I would feel kind of bad having seen it already and he hadn't yet. *shrugs*

did someone say

Ace Attorney

[objecting intensifies]

For real though, I'm a huge fan of the series, and it's always good to see new players get into it. (Fun fact: they're remaking - sort of - the first three games for 3DS, but no release date for the US yet, sadly.)

You're going to love T&T - it's a great finale for the original trilogy. Apollo Justice tends to get a bit more mixed reaction, but I liked it. And Dual Destinies, while not without its flaws, is a pretty great entry as well.

Professor Layton's a very fun series too, though it's the kind of series where - paradoxically - you can start burning through them all at once and in the process get really sick of them. Probably best not to binge those when you play them. I'd recommend playing at least one before the crossover comes out, though!

Trials and Tribulations is waaaaaay better than Justice for All, especially in the music department. It neatly ties together the first three games, and its cases are fun and interesting.

@Blade: I have considered doing that before. Although in order to get a Playstation controller to work, I believe you need to download drivers. *shrugs*

Hm...I am probably just going to wait till I have some spare cash and buy a Logitech controller. *shrugs* Thanks for suggestion though.

@GSR: Oh, they are remaking them for 3DS? That's kind of cool.

Will they still be separate games or are they all going to be able to fit in one 3DS card? Just curious is all.

But anyway, I am enjoying T&T so far (I am on Case 2 at the moment.). Oh, and I do plan on playing Apollo Justice after I beat T&T, so I guess I'll see you mean about opinions being mixed when I get to that one.

Hm...While I have you here, would you say Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is worth picking up? I was just wondering since after playing through first two games, my interest in seeing police side of things in these games peaked. So yeah, would you recommend that game or should I avoid it since its sequel doesn't look like it will be coming overseas anytime soon?

As for Professor Layton comments, I should clarify that I am probably not going to binge play them all at once. XD I mean when it comes to gaming, I tend to have the habit of getting into a game for awhile and then eventually take a break from it to check out another series that caught my interesting. So yeah, I don't think I will run into the problem of burning out on the series.

As for playing one before crossover comes out, I technically have played a little bit of the Miracle Mask, so I am familiar with what Professor Layton games are like. That being said I am probably won't be going back to that one until after I play through the other games.

That and I probably won't get the crossover until after that. XD

@SC: Yeah, I agree with you there. I am definitely loving the music in this one and the cases so far looked pretty interesting. :)
