Recap: My Visit to Philly BrickFest

Hey, folks. I thought I would pop in and give a little recap on how my visit to Philly BrickFest went. And well, show you my photos from the event. Although I should note that I am not good photographer. So if you expecting quality photos, wait for BZP Staff coverage of it.

But anyway, I guess I'll start by linking to my photos since I am sure most of you don't want to read my rambling about it here. So yeah, here are following albums that you can check out:

Alright, with that out of the way, I guess I can begin with recap of my visit. I am not sure where to begin really. I mean a lot happen that day. Although I doubt everything will be interesting for you folks to read. Oh, well. I am sure you will just skim read this anyway.

So to begin, I guess I mention that my visit took place on a Saturday (April 26th). I was very excited for it, especially the night before. And well, that excitement was enough to make me wake up at like 5 AM (Which is quite rare for me as I don't like the morning.). Of course, I didn't leave for the place at 5 AM. That would of been crazy early and my friend wasn't even up yet.

Of course, I didn't actually leave my bed until it was like 6 AM. I then went downstairs, made breakfast, text my friend, chill on Twitter, ect. After a couple of hours, my friend arrived at my house to pick me up (It was around 8 AM.).

Hm...I am not going to talk about car ride since it rather uneventful. After all, we got to Expo center around 8:50 AM.

Now initially, we got a bit confused since apparently there was two lines for the place (One for people that brought tickets beforehand and one for people buying it at the door.).

I got say that was kind of annoying, especially considering nothing on their website even seem to suggest that public passes were purchasable online. I mean I did a website search beforehand and I found nothing but AFOL registration tickets. So yeah, no idea how those people knew where to look.

But anyway, after being corrected, we stood in line waiting until they open the doors to public, which was around 10 AM. However my line didn't get to go in until a bit later since obviously the other line take priority as they have tickets already (Nothing wrong with that, although there were plenty of irritated people in my line about that.).

Oh, I forgot to mention that while waiting for doors to open, we got a map, some sort of Clone Wars Poster, and two sort of ad things from the event's sponsors, I guess.

The map was rather small and not very useful. I mean it didn't have many callouts for a lot of tables. Most just said MOC table, which is rather obvious considering this is a LEGO event. It made finding the Bionicle Table, not an easy task (BrickFair VA has it beat in this regard as Bionicle Table was extreme easy to find there or at least it was during my visit.). I also end up throwing it away since I got it wet. Not going to explain how that happen since it rather embarrassing, so let's leave it at that.

As for the poster, my friend threw his away since he doesn't like Star Wars. I also threw mines away, but only because I had nowhere to put it. I probably should worn that backpack I left in the car with an umbrella. It especially would of help me carry my hoodie easier as I had to juggle it through the event in my hands since I got way too hot to wear it. So if I learn anything from this, its that I should pick a bag with me.

Lastly, the sponsor ad things, I kept those for some weird reason. I guess it was just because it was easy to fit in my hoodie pockets.

But anyway, after they let our line head in and we brought tickets, we join the line of people entering the main Expo Hall. And man, there was a lot of people there. I guess the LEGO Movie airing this year might be part of reason for this. Not that I am saying these events don't get a lot of people. I mean my visit to BrickFair VA had a lot people there too.

For some reason though, this place felt extra crowded though. But then again, I guess this Expo center is bigger than one that hosts BrickFair VA (I could be wrong though as my memory is kind fuzzy. I mean my visit to BrickFair VA was back in 2012.), so naturally more people can get in.

Speaking of the LEGO Movie, this place was filled with spaceship MOCs. Benny would been proud. And he was actually there to see it too (I don't mean just Benny Minifigures. They had someone dress as Benny there to take photographs with fans. That poor person in that costume must of been awful hot.).

But anyway, we basically start going all over place taking the pictures that you see in the albums above. I should note that I did a miss a couple tables since I was having camera trouble at the beginning. I was trying to figure out how to get my father's camera to work without picture staying on the screen until I click a button. So all photos that you see above were instead taken from a Phone camera, so the pictures might not be that great. Sorry.

While I was taking pictures, I was, of course, on the lookout for Bionicle Table. I didn't actually get to it though until the end of our visit. However I did find where it was before then (The table was packed with people at the time.) and I stare at Black Six from afar like I had before at BrickFair VA (Because I am weird.). XD

I guess the question now is: Did I say hi to Black Six? The answer is yes, I did greet him after he remark about me trying to hide behind my camera. I even shown him the sticker note that I prepared for the occasion. So I would say that it went better than expected, although it probably helps that I had a friend with me.

Of course, as well as greeting Black Six went, my anxiety decided to appear as I went over to sign BZP Logbook for event. It got triggered when I accidental knock over one of MOCs near the book and instinctively try to fix my error when I should known better than touch the MOC. It got worst when Black Six remarked, "Was I trying to break it?" I get it was done in joking fashion, but my brain at the time begin to worried that I might of broken it when I try to fix it.

After that remark, I try to shift my focus to just signing the logbook as quick as I could before I cause more damage. Of course, I had stupidly start to write my real name under the username line, so I end up trying to scribble that out and write my username over top of it (I should of use the pencil, I brought.).

Embarrassed from those two moments, I try to move away from the table and well, I start to shake a little as I reflected on my actions and worried what Black Six must think. This was kind of the reason there isn't a lot of Bionicle pictures as this silly little anxiety made it hard for me to focus the camera while I was there. I am sorry about that.

But anyway, outside of my failures in a social situation, I did manage to get a Prototype piece from Black Six (Its same as one that I got before, so I got two now. =D). I actually did mean to give Black Six something back (I brought some TNG Miru to give to anyone that I may of met there.), but he unfortunately disappeared after fixing the railing for Bionicle Table (I guess to go have lunch.).

Speaking of things I brought with me, I had my BIONILUG brick in my pocket. I am not sure why I brought that really. I guess I want to use it as Attorney Badge or something. XD

Alright, so after we have finished getting pictures of Bionicle table, we decided to head out and get some lunch. We drove up to King of Prussia Mall and had something to eat there (I had grilled cheese like I always do. See I wasn't lying when I said I always ordered grilled cheese at restaurants). I pay for our meal there. We were going to try and split it, but I decided it would be easier to pay the whole thing. Beside, it was a way to pay my friend back for driving me up here.

And well, that's about it. I mean we pretty much just drove home after that. I don't really have much else to really say about our visit really. Well, I guess it worth mentioning that we did get some streetpass stuff, while we were there. I think my friend beat Find Mii for first time there. As for me, I am very close to beating final boss in Find Mii II (I still got three Miis from that day that I need to use, so I might end up beating it next time I turn my 3DS on.).

Oh, and my friend and I were talking about future hangouts for us and there is slight possibility that we will be doing a day trip to BrickFair VA again (Assuming nothing comes up this time like a surprise wedding. =P).

Okay, that's enough from me for today. Overall it was a pretty fun trip and I definitely would do it again, if I could. I apologize if this was kind of boring read. I hope you all have a great day and thank you for taking the time to read this. Talk to you later, BZPers.

I'm sorry I caused/exacerbated some anxiety; I'm glad you had fun anyway!

I'm pretty sure BrickFair Virginia has a bigger space, especially after they finish expanding the expo hall. This event did have a huge number of public visitors though - I heard an estimate was twenty-four thousand over the two days.
