Bio of a BZP Admin

Hmmm. I have been really thinking about getting into the Halo books. Is there an order to them? I had Ghost of Onyx on audio book and loved it. I was half way through it and it got deleted.

The order for the first few is:

1. The Fall of Reach
   
2. The Flood
   
3. First Strike
   
4. Ghosts of Onyx
   

 

From a publishing perspective, the next was Contact Harvest, which is a prequel detailing humanity's first contact with the Covenant. Then came Cole Protocol, which is another prequel focusing on Preston Cole. Halo: Evolutions is a collection of short stories taking place at various times and places. Cryptum was next and is a prequel focusing on the Forerunners. Glasslands apparently picks up where Ghosts of Onyx left off and would be the next 'main' book I suppose. Primordium is the next book in the Forerunner prequels and The Thursday War is the followup to Glasslands which will be released next month.

Cryptum and Primordium are by Greg Bear.

Glasslands and The Thursday War are by Karen Traviss.

The Flood is by William C. Dietz.

Contact Harvest is by Joe Staten.

The Cole Protocol is by Tobias Buckell.

Evolutions is by various authors (including some of the above).

 

All were supervised by Bungie or 343 Industries and are fairly consistent with the facts of the Halo universe.

That's awesome, Andrew!! Reading books is amazing, especially doing so so frequently! I'm trying to read a book a week myself, but I'm getting slightly behind right now because I'm making my way through the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, which in addition to being very long is also very dense haha (and, y'know, that thing called school also gets in the way sometimes haha). But I'll catch up!

Well, I finished Contact Harvest a couple weeks ago. I had tried reading it over the summer, then my interest in reading declined. I came back to it later and I can truly say I liked it.

Hey Andrews, I just want you to know, you should each trade your book series with each other and read those too.

But yes, Song of Ice and Fire is on my eventual to-read list.

Haha, I've got one of those eventual to-read lists myself...I feel like I'll never get through the list in my life.

 

But the ASoIaF series is definitely amazingly well-written and extremely enjoyable; I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get around to it! In the meantime, good luck on your current goal!

As for killing time, there is something I do, take all of my Halo games and play them in order of when they take place in the Halo universe (currently I am still on 2).

Yep, I've been loving Halo for over a decade now. I will be reading the Forerunner books, hopefully before Halo 4 comes out, possibly even starting this coming weekend!
