Ask LEGO Questions

Black Six

BrickFair New England is right around the corner, taking place from May 9th to the 12th in Manchester, New Hampshire.

LEGO Community Coordinator for North America Kevin Hinkle (kevinhink on BZPower) will be there representing the company. On Friday he's holding a Q&A session where attendees get to ask questions. I love thinking up questions to ask Kevin, but I can only ask about light grey 9 volt Bionicle monorails so many times.

That's where you come in.

Give me some questions to ask Kevin about LEGO - they can be funny or they can be serious (or somewhere in between). I'll pick a few and ask them during the Q&A, and provide you all with the answers (hopefully). If there's a lot of good serious ones, I'll ask him those during other parts of the weekend and get you the answers too.

You have until Tuesday, May 7th to submit them here!

How will the company handle the Star Wars license for the next few years, now that Disney's abrupt cancelation of the Star Wars 3D re-releases and The Clone Wars has almost certainly jeopardized whatever plans it had?

How is the Hero Factory theme doing in terms of sales?

How is the constraction category as a whole doing?

How are you doing?

Is there ever any chance of bringing Christoffer Raundahl or another Hero Factory designer to a convention in the United States?

What has The LEGO Group's experience with their expanding social media presence been like?

What kind of considerations go into determining whether a theme gets a page on a social networking site? As an example, currently LEGO Ninjago, Duplo, and Legends of Chima all have official pages on *insert social networking site here*, whereas LEGO Friends does not and the LEGO Hero Factory one has not been updated in over two years.

Here's one.

What can expect from the future of LEGO Digital Building?

Will Bionicle finally come back as depicted? (That's a dream I had.)

(I really wish I could come that week, but i don't have plane tickets, and I'm swarmed with STAAR that week.)

Q: THANK YOU FOR THE PIZZA

Q: ALSO YOU'RE RIGHT THE SUPERMAN: RED SON ARC IS BRILLIANT

Q: YOU ARE MY HERO KEVIN

(you don't actually have to ask him any of these but if you could relay the message that'd be great)

Ask him something about how successful the Collectible Minifigure line is. Phrased not so much as "whatcha gonna do next?" but more like "Are they going to continue?"

I'd also be curious to know his opinion on the "Mr. Gold" rare fig promotion. I know other collectors are up in arms because it's so rare and it making some people go to extremes to find it, but on the other hand I understand the business reasoning behind it too.

Sorry, you didn't want pre worded questions, did you? :P

Have you guys made any strides in the color purple? I've seen purple in a considerable number of new sets, so I'm wondering if there's anything behind that (new science, heightened demand, market research, etc).

What happened to the the purple HF hero idea?

 BZP's dream, I hear.

I'm not going to act like this is NOT the most common question, but

"Does BIONICLE have the chance to come back? No pressure, no date, just a simple yes or no."

Good luck. ;D

You know, we've gotten the answer to this question like a billion times. TLG has not completely ruled out the possibility of BIONICLE's return. And that's all they're really going to be able to tell us until/unless they prepare a return for the BIONICLE theme enough to announce it on their own terms.

I understand that people want to hear something new about BIONICLE's chances of coming back, but we're never going to hear anything new just by asking the same question over and over with slightly different phrasing. I know there aren't many questions you CAN ask that anyone could answer, but it bugs me to see people putting a lot of hope in questions we already know the answers to.

Ask him if they are interested in hiring an intern with an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. :P

Okay, if you won't do that question, here some run of the mill questions instead:

1) How Chima doing? Is doing as well as LEGO has hoped?

2) Who's his favorite Toa?

3) What year of BIONICLE was his favorite?

4) What LEGO theme is his favorite?

That's all I got in terms of questions at the moment.

"Were Bionicle-themed sandwiches ever considered a viable option during the theme's 9-year long run?"
