Intro

Welcome, one and all, to this week's update. As per usual I have no plans for what I'm going to write, so let's see what happens.

 

Updates

First and foremost (in my mind) BrickFest 2011 was canceled. I know a bunch of people were planning on going and this is a real disappointment. Look for some smaller BZPower gatherings to be planned at BrickWorld and/or BrickMagic now, two events that have not traditionally had a large Bionicle presence. BrickFair is still the go-to event for BZPower though.

 

A new episode of the Hero Factory podcast came out this week too. They're fun, sure, but they're nothing compared to the BZPowercast in my opinion. :P Speaking of the Powercast, don't forget that you can get your voice on the show! Just record some questions or comments and we'll throw them in for all to hear!

 

On the, 'that's weird' front, some members discovered the LEGO Octopus Beta. There's been no word, even amongst the Ambassadors, as to what this is, but I think you can expect to learn more soon hopefully.

 

Speaking of Ambassador stuff, I haven't gotten a chance to do anything about that yet, at least in the public's eyes. Maybe this weekend? I hope? I'll let you guys in on some info though - one thing involves the selection of our next Ambassador and the other is about getting LEGO a way to find all the awesome LEGO builders in our community. I look forward to both of these, as soon as I get to them...

 

Mailbag

Hey B6! Thought I'd put in a couple o'questions for the good ol' mailbag!

 

1. What would you say if people tried to start a name fad based off of your name (someone's already joined BZP as "Black Seven," lol)?

 

2. Favourite BIONICLE Character who was a set in 2006?

1. There's been a member named "blackfive" for years and years. I guess it's only a matter of time before the other combinations get taken?

3. (Again?) It's been so long since I've watched DS9 I couldn't name any episodes.

On the subject of the possible fad, would I get in trouble if I changed my name to Black Sixty-Two? Because sixty-two is my favorite number.

 

If not, I might go with fifty-seven.

Wait... "to be planned"? Are you saying there's a possibility of an OFFICIAL (albeit understandably smallish) BZPower gathering at Brickworld? Like, potentially an actual booth?

 

That would very very honestly be a dream come true for me. I can't make it to any Lego conventions except Brickworld each year, and I didn't meet a single BZPer at this year's.

It wouldn't be 'official,' but usually how it works is someone from BZPower is the Bionicle theme coordinator and most of the BZPower people hang out around there all weekend.

 

How was BrickWorld's Bionicle section? Was there one?

As far as I saw, there wasn't a dedicated section for Bionicle at all (though I could have missed it, I had less time to see everything this year). That's not to say it couldn't use one, though! =P
