"that weird trans-mid blue that was introduced in '07"? You mean Transparent Fluorescent Blue (Trans-Medium Blue on Bricklink), the color used prominently in 2001 and 2002 as Kopaka's original eye color, and later used prominently in Toa Inika Matoro and Barraki Takadox? One of the only three of the five transparent fluorescent eye colors from the Toa Mata that is still with us today? THAT weird trans-mid blue?

I personally like the Transparent Light Blue cladding and visors, but I'm somewhat sad that Stormer, Frost Beast, and Aquagon use regular Transparent Blue for their heads rather than Transparent Fluorescent Blue (ideal) or even Transparent Light Blue. Regular Transparent Blue just doesn't have that same glowiness to it. Hopefully this isn't an indication that Transparent Fluorescent Blue is going away any time soon, because as I said it's one of the last three transparent fluorescent colors we've still got from back in the days of the Toa Mata. We already lost Transparent Fluorescent Red and Transparent Fluorescent Yellow a long time ago; I'd hate to lose this too.

Also, Evo had those same gunmetal (Titanium Metallic) feet last year. In fact, Splitface also had one. Bruizer has them this year. And they've been on the online Pick-A-Brick for a about as long as they've been appearing in sets.

Actually, Aanchir, the color of the eyes used for Toa Mata Kopaka and Toa Nuva Kopaka are -not- of the same hue we see presented in these new HERO Factory sets!

In fact, the Trans. Medium Blue that was temporarily discontinued BIONICLE-wise was replaced with the current Trans. Light Blue that was introduced in both Toa Metru Nuju and Metruan Ehrye sets, continuing through 2004 and 2005. This went on until 2008-2009, when the color returned to be used for the Adaptive Armor HUDs as well as the Glatorian Heads for the Ice Tribe and a few HERO Factory sets.

It is here that I inform you of the fact that, unfortunately for you, the 2013 sets in question are not breathing renewed lifeblood into Trans. Medium Blue parts, but are, in fact, putting the final nail in the coffin due to the Glatorian heads being replaced by a newer sleeker form, meaning--

The number of the Toa Mata eye colors still in production has dropped from three to two!

All arguments on BZP should be resolved from now on using rap battle gifsets.

Boy, that escalated quickly.

Also Dragon Bolt is the best set purely for the fact that it is a dragon.

No, they're not. Transparent Fluorescent Red and Transparent Fluorescent Yellow are discontinued. The similar (but not identical) colors Transparent Medium Reddish-Violet and Transparent Yellow are still available in sets, but they are not the same colors no matter what Bricklink tries to tell you (incidentally, Bricklink also lists at least four different colors under the name "copper"-- one of the many disadvantages of a user-generated database).

regardless your "transparent flourescent blue" is mad overused anyway im glad they arent using it in these sets im glad trans-light blue is being used

"Mad overused"? It was used for a small handful of parts in BIONICLE, for one part in Hero Factory, and for very few parts in System. Transparent Light Blue is a much more common color. The reason I prefer Transparent Fluorescent Blue for eye colors is that true to its name, it fluoresces very brightly in ultraviolet light and thus generally tends to appear glowier than other transparent blue colors, much like the other transparent fluorescent colors.

also hahaha um i didnt get evo last year nor did i get splitface and i dont do pick-a-brick

I'm just informing you that those feet are nothing new, not trying to suggest you should already own them. If this is the first set that you actually want which contains them,

I'm plenty chill. It's just there's a lot of misinformation that goes around regarding transparent colors (as evidenced by your post).

I'm not arguing with that point! These shells and visors are Transparent Light Blue, as Aho said, and the heads are Transparent Blue; my point was just that Transparent Fluorescent Blue was not a new color in 2007.

In fact, the Trans. Medium Blue that was temporarily discontinued BIONICLE-wise was replaced with the current Trans. Light Blue that was introduced in both Toa Metru Nuju and Metruan Ehrye sets, continuing through 2004 and 2005. True, though Transparent Fluorescent Blue was used throughout this time in System, including use for some BIONICLE parts like Bohrok eyes in the Alpha Team theme (which made more use of this color than probably any other System theme ever). It also reappeared in BIONICLE long before 2008-- it was used for Kazi, Toa Inika Matoro, Takadox, Morak, and the Toa Mahri visors (plus the Barraki eye from Toa Mahri Hahli's mask). It wasn't until 2009, though, that it returned to use as an eye color for sets.

Objection.gifsuperobjection.gif

We can't signal the death blow for the color just yet because it is still in use in some sets this year! One of these is 70010 The Lion CHI Temple, the flagship set of the summer Legends of Chima wave (using it for the lion's eyes, though all the other parts in the set are either Transparent Blue or Transparent Light Blue). This is not indicative of a color that has already been removed from the palette.

edgeworth-thinking(b).gif

However, the choice not to use it in Hero Factory any longer remains somewhat worrying. It is no longer a central part of any theme's color scheme, and its functions in other themes (except those like where a fluorescent color is preferable) are easily fulfilled by other blue colors. This is the sort of thing that can eventually lead to a color being discontinued.
