It definitely helps the color scheme, though I see what you mean about the plain shells not quite doing the trick. How about shell detail elements instead? The crystal add-ons from Pohatu and Ketar might do nicely if you can find a good place to integrate them, and work with the MOC's color scheme.

Alternately, if you wanted something subtler and smaller, you could consider some non-constraction details. This part from last year's Ninjago sets might do nicely. This part is rarer and might be tougher to integrate due to the Trans. Green blending.
