For the record, about the whole teasing leadup thing -- I already posted this way back in September in one of my boringly titled updates entries. It was fun to see that nobody guessed it, even though I said all along this would be launched sometime around now. So "unexpected" is debatable.

 

Aaaaanyways, on to contest-related questions.

 

For the record, you don't have to have any artistic ability. If you wanted, you could just enter something that uses official images, and you talk about them in your own words. (And technically you could even enter an almost all text entry, though I advise aiming for an image-heavy presentation.)

It be bogus. (And for the record, the time capsule motif is just a symbol. We won't actually be burying anything. Well, maybe some of you will, but that's up to you. )

Well, the rule says to try to avoid it. It's a guideline, in other words, so technically you could. And remember there are no actual categories until the polls. But do try to avoid it, as it will make your entry difficult to judge compared to other entries, and that might make it suffer in the polls.

Ah well, changed my mind slightly, but that's all cool, this is going to be fun, thanks for clearing that up, bones.

It's not absolutely necessary. If we get a lot of text-only entries, there will be a category for them. Otherwise, they would be lumped in with other entries that have a lot of text, I expect.

 

It's just that images help the reader engage with what you're doing, whereas a wall of text can seem intimidating. My advice would be to avoid having it look like a wall of text. If you wanna do that with it still being all text, go ahead.

 

But again, this part of the "rules" is totally just a guideline. So you are free to ignore every bit of advice I just said.
