Relaxation And A Certain Miru

Right now, I'm sitting at home on my October break. I can't quite believe it's been seven weeks since I started college. And it feels really strange being home.

But I guess I should start with the past week first. Most significantly: last Sunday I was in Washington, D.C. for the National Equality March. It was rather epic. Definitely an unforgettable time, and I even finally got a rainbow flag! I also saw Lady Gaga in person. Which was rather amazing. And I also met up with one of my friends from middle school who now goes to Georgetown...

But I knew that I had been getting sick the day before, and when we got back to Vassar Sunday night I just crashed. Monday was not fun, since I was sick, had a weird crick in my neck from sleeping on the bus that suddenly morphed into agonizing pain in the evening, and then I -also- had three midterms the next day to study for. Not pleasant. I made it through the evening only thanks to a friend's hot water bottle and studying in my best friends' room... The midterms themselves were okay; I've gotten two of them back and I know I could have done better on both (if, say, I hadn't been in pain while studying), but nonetheless they were pretty good. The Wednesday I had my Greek midterm, which I thought was really easy but made a few stupid mistakes on... And spent the rest of the week writing things and catching up on German homework.

Then there was break. I actually had breakfast the day I left in the academic quad of Vassar since I had more time than I had anticipated, and it was really peaceful, just sitting there alone on a bench under a maple that had lost half of its leaves, with the weather cool but not too cold... And then that afternoon I took the bus to visit my friend Brook at her college (in Massachusetts), where I spent the weekend. It was awesome. We saw Where the Wild Things Are one day, which we agreed was strange and kinda freaky.

And after that I came home. It's been weird, since when I walked in our house seemed oddly sterile without my stuff everywhere. Even my room was strange, with all the Lego stuffs packed up and a bunch of bags of stuff my mom had cleaned up on top of my desk... But I've made it feel more proper now. AND! What was even better was unpacking my box of MOCs from Brickfair and following the following as I was sifting through the packing peanuts:

I have seriously been wanting a dark blue Miru since 2003. Now, finally, I can build Toa Shenyu properly... Thank you -so much-, HH and Alsru and Six and DV for sending it to me! I love it to pieces.

Anyway. Since then I've visited my high school once, which felt really weird... I loved it so much, and was so nervous about transitioning to college, but now I love Vassar so much more. And my high school seemed really small (which it is, it just didn't feel quite like that when I was there...). But it was awesome seeing everyone again. I need to go back later just to talk to everyone properly... I do miss my friends a lot.

But now I also miss my new friends from Vassar. Sigh.

At least I have a dark blue Miru for comfort. And I also went shopping today and got a new jacket and scarf. But I could do with another jacket as well...

I liked the note as well! My dad scanned it and e-mailed it to me when the box got back home. I love you guys too. :D

And Brickthing, ever since the box got back I've been several hundred miles away from it. It would have been kind of hard for me to open it.
