No.

Actually, yes.

Of course, just like when a family dies, we have no reason to let BIONICLE's death ruin our lives or our retrospective appreciation of the theme.

Predictable.

Just because you can't accept that something is dead doesn't make it any less of a reality.

There's not much to say that hasn't already been said. Right now it's dead, it might come back or it might not. Simple as that.

In the wise words of a non-Bionicle character:

"Eeyup."

If it came back, wouldn't that mean it's comatose atm? :/

Exactly! Lego infected Bionicle with a virus, Bionicle became comatose, and we have a thousand years to save it! :P

Or, it could have Matoro syndrome, or Hydraxonn syndrome. =P

It actually has low-profit syndrome, a horrible disease with a 93.72% fatality rate.

LEGO didn't do anything to BIONICLE. A more apt comparison is that the Matoran who were working to help Mata Nui mostly went off to work on other projects and there were no longer enough to keep Mata Nui operable. And no new Matoran were taking over the work of the ones who had left because they had to study for hours upon hours to learn the necessary trades, rather than start fresh with something new.

Except an even more apt comparison is that Mata Nui saw this coming, helped the Matoran evacuate his body and wrap up all the work they had been doing, and moved his soul into a newer vessel that didn't require so much effort for new Matoran to continue serving. Basically the way the BIONICLE story might have gone if Makuta Teridax had never put Mata Nui to sleep, which would have been boring, but this is just an analogy, 'k?

This is the situation we have. BIONICLE was no longer sustainable because it was unable to bring in new fans. TLG thus brought the main story to a conclusion together with a line of sets that brilliantly appealed to fans' nostalgia, and moved on to other themes with more potential for drawing in new fans. You can't blame them for making a non-suicidal decision in this case.

And while new stories could have been told in the BIONICLE universe (it's a universe, there would always be the potential for new adventures, just as in any story), it was much easier releasing their story ideas from the constraints that an existing universe gave them and creating brand-new contexts that didn't require excessive background knowledge for fans to appreciate.

I love BIONICLE, but it pains me to see fans who think the progression it followed, including its inevitable conclusion, was completely inadequate. I'm not saying you're a poor BIONICLE fan, or that any good BIONICLE fan should just be happy with every part of BIONICLE, but a stubborn refusal to accept anything but an eternal continuation of BIONICLE would not have been good for the theme and it's certainly not good for any fan's personal well-being.

If BIONICLE does come back, in the form of either a brand-new story or a retelling of the old story, I certainly won't mind. And it may be that this takes decades or longer.Anything can change between now and then. But a straight continuation from where it left off, as if the main saga had never ended, is not possible, and in my honest opinion, not desirable.

Oh come on Aanchir, don't be a killjoy with seriousness.

Also, I killed BIONICLE.

From the standpoint of the market, TLG and new-content -- yeah, it's pretty deadsies.

But, with people making fan-content, I wouldn't consider it fully dead. At least, in the sense where "No one likes it, no one does anything with it, no one cares about it -- it's dead to the world." Although going with that train of thought, then a lot of things with small, dwindling fanbases are still "alive" by my definition, so it really does no good one way or the other.

(Although all the people who still want Bionicle around, are all up in arms over stuff like BZP broadening its horizons and stuff... well, instead of waiting for Greg to write something, or make more content [which I'm not sure will or will not come... ?] why not make up your own stuff? That's what Lego is there for -- the limit is your imagination).

That's my opinion anyway (and yeah, I'm fairly indifferent on this whole debacle [man I love that word <3])

If ANYTHING, I would want a prequel to the story. You know, Lessovikk's team and whatnot.
