I'm Gonna Lose

Well, apparently my entry is gonna lose in the System Building Contest Poll. That was pretty much guaranteed, since I never win in BBC, and I've had a lot of experience to back it up. But it didn't help that NOBODY FREAKIN TOLD ME WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF THE MOC IN THE FIRST PLACE. Is it good, horrible bad, fine but not enough to shine compared to the others? I dunno.

Granted, the same thing happened with my COT short story. (ultraviolence, I thought we had a deal. I read and reviewed your story!) But again, not surprised; it's been years since anybody has actually read my stories I've posted here. Oh, when it comes to asking me to read other stuff, people are just fine with it... but heck most people hardly even look at my set reviews posted on the front page. Grr.

And since I'm in an angry ranting mood... the System Building Contest Poll took almost two weeks to get up. Okay, I was gonna give them slack for the holidays... but seriously, it's just ONE POLL. You didn't even rename the forum it was in. Did it really take THAT LONG to post it?

Also, school tuition: WHY SO FREAKIN EXPENSIVE??

Oh hey sup, I posted on your profile feed. Read your story, have been having internet problems so never got around to posting the review. It will most certainly be up before the contest ends :)

And yeah, new-BZP seems to be... apathetic at best to even somewhat well-known MOCists, artists, and writers now. I see the really famous members getting all the same attention, but newer folks and somewhat in the middle people just getting ignored. Kinda like how old-BZP was, but times 10 :\

Yep. When you're working over forty hours a week, juggling a ton of end-of-year bills, and traveling to six different states and another country both for work and other reasons, and you have little or no internet connection in-transit, and oh yeah, it's also the holidays, which entails a lot of responsibilities - well, it's pretty easy for a toy contest to be pushed back in the priority queue. Because who's going to be hurt by a poll being a little late? I figured, anyone who would seriously get upset about that would really need to re-examine his or her priorities in life.

Ooh, Smeag played the "Busy" card. Totally didn't expect that!

I could rant on about how people shouldn't accept reasonsibilities if they know they can't commit, ext, ext, but frankly I don't really care. I just decided to point out that detail because I wanted to be a #####. Still, it's not uncommon... Building Contest polls have taken up to months to get up before.

Haha, if you were trying to be a "#####," you succeeded. In turn, I could rant on about how when you're working a real job out in the real world (paying your real rent and other assorted bills), new responsibilities often come up unexpectedly, and that one can be free to commit to something at the beginning of a month but then get very busy in the last week of the month, but in turn, I too don't care. I just decided to respond because I think you need to get over yourself and stop being so "angry" (your words) over something so obscenely inconsequential.

Why thank you smeag for telling me how I should act. Because I've obviously never worked full time or gone to school or had any of this responsibility-like stuff.

Oh wait...

Shall we continue?

Well, as someone who's been through both, I think it's work noting that school and the type of jobs one takes while still in school are completely different (and about two hundred rungs lower on the "level of responsibility" ladder) than a permanent, full-time career job where millions of people's lives are directly affected by the work you do and you're living alone and wholly supporting yourself. When I was still young and in school, I thought the stuff I'd done was pretty big and responsibility-filled, too......I was sooooooo wrong, haha. The real world is a whole new vista.

Regardless, I'm not telling you how to act so much as I'm agreeing with your assessment of yourself as a "#####" (in this thread, anyway) and saying that you're getting angry and overcritical over something very, very, very silly and unimportant.

Anyway, my girlfriend wants to use the computer, so I'm going to give it to her and probably snuggle. Peace! <3

Actually, now I'm just angry at your "greater-than-thou" attitude, but whatever.

In all seriousness, this was an entry to let off steam. I didn't mean to insult you or ultraviolence or anybody else really. I understand that things arise and people put things off... and to be honest, the contest was pretty skimpy to begin with. So I'm sorry if my little blog entry hurt your feelings. What I really wanted was to just guilt people into reviewing my stuff... hasn't worked. :P

I'm not sure how much of this argument was tongue-in-cheek. I am left really confused over whether there was an argument going on or not :P

Nonetheless, I wasn't offended in any way, I actually kinda need a push sometimes because I'm incredibly lazy and like to procrastinate. Add on the fact that I'm dealing with some malware on my laptop and some real-world drama and bam, welcome to the procrastination station. But look at that, I finally got the review up.
