Do My Posts Count?

Posted by xccj , in Thoughts Dec 17 2012 · 353 views

For the first time, I think my post count rank has slipped!
I was just checking the member list, where I ordered it by post count.  From like 2005 to 2010, I was like in the top 70-80 posters on BZP.  (Like, usually ten or so down on the second page with 60 members per page.)  I mean, after the first couple years, I made progress, but for most years, I just made steady progress.  I'd pass some members, and then other members would pass me.  But I haven't been posting much this year, and it's affected my rank, which is now about halfway down the second page.  (So, maybe top 90-100.)
So what am I going to do about this?
Nothing.  :P
I mean, I could blame it on the fact that none of my reporter duties increase my post count despite me having to post a news story once-ish a week-ish.  Or that the places I post most often don't count posts.  (Ima lookin' at you, Voting Booth!)  But really, it's cause I'm super inactive on the forums.  And besides, it's not about your post count... but about your blog count.  I'm now the 4th biggest blogger.  Bambi, Bfahome, and CF, ya better watch out!  (Note, I'm not in the most viewed or most commented blog... I just talk to myself here more than most people!)
Also I should become more active in the forums but I probably won't because I have a life now bla bla bla okay I'm kidding no I don't but I will have work responsibilities so bla.  :P

I think the only way to be really active in the forums these days is to join an RPG. :P

I've been trying to get to 13k for weeks now.

Too bad I'm too lazy to find interesting topics to post in.

:kaukau: I'm somewhere, don't know where.  Well, it doesn't matter.  Back in the way it was just my way of measuring recognition, because I assumed that the more I posted, the more people would recognize me, and people would also see my post count and go "Huh, he's been around more than me."  But that was back in the days before I had any spinning kanohi next to my proto bar.  That was back when the rank images were more slowly attained.  That was when the boards were extremely active and overflowing.  That was back in the days when we had a busy server half the time.  In other words, it was when we had sets like the Piraka and the Barraki to argue over, and I could find a million places to post, and there were still tons of members with less than a thousand posts and having over two thousand was enough for you to be considered a mainstay.

Yet now, I have less posts than the average active BZPer, and it doesn't bother me so much.  I wouldn't mind getting it above 10k sometime, but that's not so important anymore.  Getting a higher post count than EW would be nice, as once upon a time we had a competition going on (or at least I did), but it's gone now.  The point is, people know me, and I'm recognized on BZPower where is counts.  I wouldn't mind more attention, of course.  Having a dozen replies to each blog entry and COT Short Story would be great, but anyway, I have other things to do.

Maybe, just maybe, I will join the Bionicle Zone Power Text Based Role Playing Game (BZTBRPG for short, or BZPRPG for shorter still), where apparently they count your posts, and post regularly enough so as to get in fifty posts per day and go on a manic craze for a month or two, because it's easily possible when your characters get into a long conversation.  That will hardly make any real difference in my stature here on BZPower, but it would be fun to do for the sake of competition and for setting a goal outside the highly subjective stuff of writing good blog essays that refuse to come to me.

My posts are starting to exhibit signs of free will.

Wow, I didn't know I'd still be so high on the blog post list. I kind of stopped blogging after we had all that time with the Board offline last year, and I've only made what feels like a few blog entries since.
