Onua Uniters Collaborative Mosaic

UPDATE: The only unclaimed piece is #6. I'm 90% confident I can make it if need be, so I'll be working on it this weekend. Next week, I'll try contacting all the participants to confirm if their pieces will be ready in time. (Unfortunately, I've been doing the corners, so if we're missing others, I can't just make a smaller block out of what I have.)

Colors Used (Bricklink names)

Basics: Black, Dark Bluish Gray, Light Bluish Gray, White

Background: Lime, Classic Green, Dark Green

Gold Masks: Yellow, Orange, Tan, Dark Tan, Reddish Brown

Violet Armor: Dark Purple, Medium Lavender, Dark Blue, Blue

Eyes: Medium Blue. (Maybe stacked plates with trans blue on top of white for a different coloring affect.)

We'll go with our usual standards: Use bricks or 3 stacked plates, solid studs up (no brick studs with holes). We'll use the newer shades of grays and brown. This is intended primarily for BrickFair Virginia; if enough members want to keep it on the convention circuit, we can decide that at a later date.

If you're interested, claim the section you'd want. We have a couple of months before BrickFair, so this should give you enough time to make a parts order if you need to. (I can provide inventory lists in requested.) Ideally, I'd like at least five sections claimed. (I could fill out the other four sections; I think my brick supply can support that. At the very least, I expect to grab a couple of the ones with a lot of purple.) If you do claim, please do your best to make it, and if you have to back out, give me plenty of notice to find a replacement. (Like, seriously, giving me less than a week will put me at a rush to get all my parts together...)

Feel free to ask any questions about the design or the process... we have a lot of experiences folks who've helped before. (But major design changes will probably be resisted... since I kinda already published it.)

Anyway... yeah, here it is. Now to see if we can make this one a reality too.

I know I have a lot of lime, so you can put me down for [03]. Once I take a look and my purples and pinks I might take [05] or [06] too if need be.

Also, I have an easel we can use at BrickFair Virginia to display this if need be.

I suppose my bulky quantities of dark purple should dictate which panel I should do...which would put me at...panel [04]? Let me know if there's another section you think could use me more (or a second "difficult" section, for that matter). I'm surprised you didn't list the expected difficulty of each section this time.

Awesome. I'll have to think of some way to make a traveling stand for larger mosaics eventually...

Eh, this time I figure that people can determine what's too difficult for their collection or not. For the record, purple appears in all the panels except [5], and that one has a crazy mix of tans, yellows, and oranges. (Personally, the colors I'll have the most difficulty with are the blue and dark blue outlines, since I used up most of those colors in another mosaic, but I'm prepared to order some more. And no doubt I'll need some purple too.)

Thanks again guys!

I could probably do a second panel, however, the first is still in-progress. It's also sinking in how much of this will need to be done with new parts instead of used ones...I've got to dig out the right sorting trays for each thing...where did I leave my sorted dark purple bricks that aren't 1x1s?

I take it you'll update this if you start another panel, right? I'll make sure to post something here if I try for a second...

The order I'm planning to work on them on is 02 -> 07 > 06. But now I need to make some orders too... as expected, I ran out of small purple bricks (and running low on dark blue), but unexpectedly I'm running out of black 1x1s. :o
