The Many Forms Of Me.

Okay, I went to the NW Brickon today. I struck it rich this year for Lego conventions. When I was down by Portland, there was an event in Portland... when it's in Seattle, I happen to be in the city. (Which was good, because I was able to make a delivery that came too late for Brickfest 07, so I delivered it today). The MOCs were, as usual, amazing. I've seen alot of nice usage of pieces, as well as some of the new 07 pieces in action (from the Toa Mahri/ Titans). Yeah, from what I could see of the MOCs, they were all great. (But the table was crowded alot, so it was also popular.) The other Lego creations were, as usual, astronomically amazing. You can certainly do alot with Lego bricks. (But some people, I have determined, have too much time and money on their hands to build some of those things.) One of my favorites was "The Happy Sunshine People's Winter Home". There were cool spaceships, Mindstorm robots, buildings and trains and everything cool. I was able to spend four hours browsing through all of them. I think there were less here than at Brickfest 07, but I spent more time observing the details here. :P

Oh, and I also went a little overboard on the purchasing. (Well, for somebody who has no means of income and is attending college.) I had fun trying to find all the right pieces and colors for my custom minifigure. I'm used to snapping on and off arms and (to an extent) legs, so it was easy for me to customize a mini fig... the person there had to help alot of other people who were either having a tough time deciding on designs and colors or who didn't quite understand the pricing situation. (Legs, body, head, and one accessory for two dollars). I haggled price and got four accessories (and a mini fig) for three bucks. There were two or three tables selling customized mini figs for cheap prices, but there was this large collection of minifigures from Star Wars, Spider man, Batman, and other big Lego hits... those were selling for $5 and up. I think when it comes down to it, the mini figs are what makes LEGO Bricks the best thing to play with. Bionicle was great because it made the characters more complex, and not their vehicles / buildings, but you can never deny the worth of a good mini figure.

Here are the mini figures that represent me, because I like them the most. I don't knowwhy, but I have a fondness for that specific head... it was in the first big set (Aquanauts) I ever got, and since then has been very hard for me to find. (The most recent set I found it in was the original soccer field). I found a good condition one at the "build your own mini fig" table, and built a body for him, including green limbs, a green hat, a machete (they didn't come in green, pity) and a scuba tank (interchangably a jetpack). The one on the far left is the new one I bought... the center one is my default character and the one on the right has the cool policeman body. (In case you couldn't tell, I like the color green, base ball caps, and swords.) Only thing I couldn't find was purple arms and legs... they did have purplish basket ball legs, but those aren't real minifig legs!

I wanted to get some custom masks at the Bionicle table, but they were only selling whole Toa (customized Toa). They did have masks, but it turns out some lady from the Bionicle display table bought them all the first day. :P I wonder who... Anyway, I bought something that resembled Toa Lewa Mata (so thus I can replace his broken leg and axe) but came with a Kongu mask, so now I have the masks of every Mctoran version of the Inika.

I really don't have a choice about coming back again... I have to do it. I left my MOC-toran on display again, so I'll go back and get them tomorrow. It's not that bad... just a bus ride away, and I've got a bus card. I met Roa (again) and Arpy. If anybody is there tomorrow, I'll be the guy in a baseball cap, with a camera, who's having way too much fun looking at the Bionicle MOCs. So, yeah, that's it for now.

Next up... chem homework? *bang*

I'd kill to go to a convention like that. Custom minifig & Toa purchases sound right up my street. Ah well. Sounds like you had fun. Enjoy your next visit!
