Blue Blues

Is it just me, or are the blue characters this year lacking in something?

Well, maybe it is just me, but the single characters I dislike the most (set wise) out of the Piraka and Inika are Vezok and Hahli. blink.gif They are both the blue sets, and I have never been disagreeable to blue sets in the past? Why now?

For Hahli, it's quite simple. The mask su... isn't that good. It looks estraterestrial, with a mustache and all. I mean, it wouldn't be that bad if it was on Nuparu or Kongu, but on Hahli! No feminen qualities at all... like Lego was also planning for the blue Toa set to be a male. And the color scheme... gray with dark blue. Uhg. That didn't fit Hahli at all, and the appearance disapointed me.

I have my quarrels with Vezok as well... the head had too many bumps on the chin and I didn't like the spiked forehead, and the weapon was just too small. But the colors were okay. If I had skipped picking up one of the Piraka, it would've been Vezok (but I have found some of his parts useful in MOCing).

I never had this problem with Gali (I liked her Toa appearance the best, really!). Gali Nuva, Nokama Metru and Hordika were also a little "girly" compared to their other Toa counterparts (well, maybe not the Hordika) and I think it worked with their storyline characters. But this new blue Toa just doesn't fit with Hahli.

If I wasn't a big collector, and I didn't want to get every last Toa, I wouldn't buy Hahli in a protest for her appearance.

But I'm going to buy the set anyways. Because that's what my money is for (no, seriousely).

Hahli looks like the "Creature From the Black Lagoon." Ever look at her photo side-by-side with the Creature's. The resemblance is striking.

And Vezok... I don't know what Vezok looks like. Just weird, I guess. blink.gif

Hmm. . . Your Blues or I Sing About Blue?

The choices the choices. Which lyrics to quote.

Obviously the one that makes less sense, of course!

"This is known as the Big Black Cat concert. No wait, we've got a donkey comin' in, so maybe we'll forget about that. . ."

"Everybody everybody everybody! Everybody sing about blue!
Everybody everybody everybody! Everybody sing about blue!
I sing about blue too! Five foot two, cuedecue.
I sing about blue too! Twist it shake it you can't bake it!
I'm in love with you!
Come on! Come on!
Don't you love me too?
Yes I sing about blue!
Yes I sing about blue!
Calico short clothes high heel shoes nice shoes too
Short skirt! Mini row (?) It's got to go!
Yes I sing about blue!
Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue!
Yes I sing about blue!
Calico short clothes got to go
Yes I sing about blue!
Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue!
Yes I sing about blue!
Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue!

Yeah, I agree. It's kinda sad. Hahli's 'stache is really pointless. I know, I know, it's tubes for breathing or what-not, but who really cares?
I look at it and think "DUDE. I'm all for androgyny and butchness but . . . c'mon. Let's make it less rediculous."

Lord knows I've been tryin'.

I dunno, I thought Vezok was better looking than some of the Piraka. Namely Avak, with those hamster cheeks...

But I see what you mean with Hahli. Just... ugh. I know they weren't going to try to make the sets look feminine after the reaction to Roodaka's appearance, but that doesn't mean they have to strive to make them look masculine.

I disagree with you on Hahli's mask. I think it is easily the most feminine of the Inika's Kanohi. The big eyes, the mouth set high, the smooth lines, all say "girl." As for the tubes and the long chin, you just have to calibrate your eye to see them as part of a mask, not a face.
