Airsoft!

Got a few friends who have purchased some airsoft guns, and I've been tempted to do the same. :P

I have a few ideas for models and types that I'd like, but I'm not entirely sure...

Eh, those are nice too, but we don't really want to have to clean up paint messes, etc.

Not to mention they are very, very expensive when you consider the refills on ammo and gas...

I'm thinkin' on getting an airsoft myself, at least for next fall (summer is approaching, and in August where I live, it feels like you're in an oven DX)

Guys, in the long run, it is not worth it. I purchased two airsoft guns a year or so back when my friends and I were planning on having wars. However, before we even got outside to play, my first gun's feed system broke, my friend's gun literally snapped in half (from being dropped from a height of only a foot), and then my second gun broke due to a serious obstruction inside caused by some other internal piece breaking.

After that mess, we all picked up paintball guns. Yes, I understand that the money required for paintball seems high, but you get so much more for it. In airsoft, a player can easily cheat and say that they were never hit, but with paintball, its kind of obvious if you're hit. Yes, the paintballs are expensive, but if you are smart and don't waste them firing at someone you know you can't hit, you'll see that a 4000 ball box (approx. $25-35), will last quite a while. Also, the paintballs rarely stain, so cleaning up after them is not a problem.

Beyond that, paintball just gives you a rush. One that doesn't come from something such as airsoft.

Personally, I have only been an active paintballer for a couple months, but I already know the ups the downs and the brands. While it may not seem worth it because of prices, in the end, its all worth it.

If you have any questions, any of you, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the tips, but the gun that my friend got (and let me shoot a few times) looks and feels like it's pretty high quality, and I'm not planning on spending that much anyway. Wars are probably on the to-do list once all of us get our guns, but cheating more than likely won't be an issue; we won't be having people get out if their shot. We all pretty much plan on just running around and shooting each other without any rules, etc. :shrugs:

My parents would also like to use the airsoft gun to "scare" off rabbits and other small animals that get into their garden, something that a paintball gun wouldn't really be the greatest for.

Your concerns are noted, and I would like to know what brand of airsoft guns you bought, so that I'll know to avoid that brand.
