All Of The Homo

So, I did it, I actually managed to get chapter 15 out at a reasonable time. If I keep this up, I may actually be able to have chapter 17 out by next Sunday, which would make up for all the time I've spent procrastinating. I do wonder who still reads it though. I know of a couple of people who keep up with it, but I'm just curious as to any other silent witnesses out there.

But one thing that caught my attention whilst writing was the way I was writing Tuma's need for company and how he kept Stronius alive for just that. My original intention was just Tuma wanting some companionship, but on retrospect, it almost seems like he's after a little...more. Now, I hope I don't ignite any flames of anger, but I'm tempted to go just that little bit deeper and flesh out Tuma's character a little more by having him become homosexual. Please, hear me out on this one, it's not my intention to have him exchange his lime-green armour for pink, nor is he going to become flamboyant or effeminate. I'd find that insulting, myself. At the same time, nor would I intend them to even kiss. My intentions would merely be to see:

A: How maturely I could handle the situation.
B: How Tuma would deal with his feelings for Stronius at a time of war.

Believe me, if I actually go through with this, it wouldn't change a thing about our beloved Elite Skrall. I'm not some thirteen year old fangirl who lies on her stomach on her bed with her feet flailing in the air and her head resting in one hand as she jots down some squicky love story about her favourite Kingdom Hearts characters. No, Tuma would be the same surly, aggressive warlord who now has one more issue to deal with as ever.

If that irritates people and I get petitions and people throwing rocks through my windows, then I won't do it.

If you get rock-throwers, wing 'em back and tell people to be more tolerant.

Think of it like any character facet: if you think it adds to the character, it doesn't directly contradict past canon or story-specific details, and it fits tonally with the story and character, then go ahead and do it. If you're not sure, one possible way you could consider it is to try swapping one of the characters' genders and evaluating it in that context (since almost everyone is more used to stories with heterosexual pairings); if it 'works' then, it'll probably still work when the characters are the same gender. You'd just have to then think over how their being the same gender would affect the characters' responses to the attraction (if at all), and ensure that any changes you'd make as a result of that don't damage the integrity of the characters.

tl;dr: write it if it works.

(PS: I got a laugh out of your 'thirteen-year-old fangirl' description.)

Okay, I found the 'thirteen-year-old fangirl' bit funny. XP

But, still, Reich is homosexual and no-one noticed. Mainly because I didn't go very in-depth on it, seeing as bio-mechanical beings shouldn't be affected by that.
Still, it may end up being noticable in BZPRPG. *Shrugs*

... And making a petition would be fun if I could trick someone else into doing so, so that I could sit in the background and laugh.

^Ah, and there's the second type of reaction I was expecting. Flat out confused. :P

Yes. I am confused. Very interesting development, just ... rather confusing.

Hehe. I won't try to explain. Even I'm slightly confused.

That's not really a reaction, Automaton. 'Flat out confused' is just Hubert's default position. :P

This time I'd say it's justified. :P

It wasn't even a week ago, and I'm not even sure why I was so obsessed with this idea. ?_?
