Some Men Got Left Behind

Posted by The Present Automaton , Apr 10 2012 · 670 views

Done. Done. Done, done, done. Finished. I finally completed Mass Effect 2 and what a ride that was. The suicide mission was absolutely heartbreaking. The final death count amounted to Kasumi, Tali, Legion, Samara and Jack. Watching Kasumi and Legion die was especially difficult, given I liked them. Though I'm ashamed to admit it, Garrus did die at one point, but I liked him so much and didn't want to have to go through Mass Effect 3 without that bro, I reloaded. Cheating, I know, but I had to do it.

So now, the question stands as to what I play next. I'm a compulsive buyer and a hoarder, so I have a massive list of games to choose from. I can go straight through to Mass Effect 3 or I could play Catherine, which shouldn't take too long. Alternatively, I could play Demon's or Dark Souls and be able to join in with those internet discussions I keep seeing. I could even finish Batman: Arkham City, X-Blades or Prototype, instead of making a start on Mirror's Edge, the Prince of Persia trilogy or Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

What do, guys? What do?

"Reload" your saved game from ME2 and play through again. All of your weapons carry over.

My first run through wound up with just Legion dead (in retrospect, Zaeed was not a good team leader), but I loved him so much (and he had so little screentime) I made myself redo it and save him.

@Makaru: I'm more keen on trying to start a different game, so I can finally burn through my ever growing pile of games.

@Paradoxophobia: Yeah...Yeah, no. Not with Mass Effect..,Everyone gets a different playthrough,

@GSR: ...Really...? Just one dead squad mate first time? ...Why do I suck so much?

...Okay...Wow...I suck...

And yet I upgraded everything in the Normandy and gained the loyalty of almost everyone...

Bad decisions for roles, then.

My first game wound up with Mordin dead, because I had forgotten one scrap of his dialogue.

Hm...I chose Tali to go through the shaft. Miranda was the biotic who kept the field open for me, which led to Legion's death...

Kasumi just died from an explosion so I probably missed an upgrade somewhere. Samara and Jack didn't have very successful missions, so I imagine that was why they died.

You can't fail Jack or Samara's loyatly missions, unless you don't do them.

Tali should have survived the shaft, unless you lost her loyalty. You handed over her father's research, didn't you.

Miranda's not your best biotic. You've got better ones. I recommend Samara for the barrier, so you can bring Jack in your squad to Shockwave all the husks.

As for upgrades, all you need are Tali's Cyclonic Barriers, Garrus's Thanix Cannon, and Jacob's Ablative Armor Plating.

Samara's, somehow I did fail it. I think I alerted her daughter to the Justicar's presence, which might not have been wise, but I wasn't too fond of Samara anyway. Jack's I didn't do.

Hm, I can certainly see where I went wrong. I think they Cyclonic Barriers were what I was missing. I'm a little disappointed in myself for not getting them.

The upgrades are much easier to get the second time 'round. You start with, like, 50000 of each resource.

And I actually didn't know you could fail Samara's mission. =P

Well, I've failed so hard I've set a new standard. :P

Nope, you've not, actually. Just check out UK's blog, and Mufasa Shepard, or the people who got EVERYONE killed in the suicide mission.

Even your success in failure was a failure.

I think Catherine is NSFBZP, unless I'm thinking of something else.

Worse things have been mentioned on BZPower. I don't feel there's anything particularly wrong with saying the name at least. :P

Everyone came out alive the first time I did it too.
I just picked what I thought made sense and good things happened.
