Outbreak: Squad Fifty-one.
A young man in his early twenties sat on a bench, cleaning his gun. He put the barrel back on, and clicked it into place. He began to put on body armor, the silver shine of Qartz reflecting in the light. He put on the chain mail first, then the bulletproof vest. Lastly, he put on the dark fireproof suit of the SWAT team.
He got up, and clicked his helmet into place. It’s mirrored surface reflected his surroundings, and the man saw the door open. Another man, only clad in a single bulletproof vest, looked at the younger man and tisked.
“Come on, rookie,” the man said. “It’s show time.”
The young man smiled, and went out the door.
This game is set in the time of Outbreak II. You play as a rookie SWAT agent that is enrolled into Sector Fifty-One’s elite team of strike agents that hold one goal: Kill any enemy Outbreakers, and keep watch on the friendly ones. Over the course of the game you’ll be a body guard for the President, fight in a F-22 Raptor, and travel around the world. As the game goes through, the rookie will slowly find more and more of the history of Outbreakers, and the reason behind the Outbreak.
Figure 1.1-The beginning level of Outbreak: Squad 51.
Here is where I will post updates on my progress on the training level.
Figure 1.2-The early stages of making the Boss come out.
This bug was interesting. If the Rookie pressed the activater two times, two Bosses would come out, and two messages would appear. This about killed my computer, so I made it to where as soon as the Rookie pressed the activater, it destroyed itself. Thus, this bug was destroyed swiftly.
Figure 1.3-The trainers attack!
This one pic holds many updates. I noticed that the sheet for the Rookie was small, too small. He was one half of the normal sprites, and that made things look arkward. So, I took Alex's sprite(which like pratically everything else in this pre-demo, I stole from Exo-Fat. ) and greyscaled it. Then I darkened it, and it turned into a good dark suit. Then the trainers. These guys had to have a lot of bugs stamped out of them, and they still don't work right. The collision checking is not working out to great.
Ah. I managed to get the events working, and got Alex to appear when the Rookie triggers a invisable switch. Not much to say here.
Feb 14 2009-Release date moved to spring 2010.
Entry under work. More to come.
