Doing Things A Little Differently

Today is the first day of Oh-Eleven. Which means that it's time to make a patented DV-list. The following is not a list of resolutions, but a list of confessions and reflections and random remarks relating to my Oh-Ten.
- 2010 might have been the best year ever
- Though it was very weird not being in school for a year
- And I spent the entire summer unemployed
- And in 2010 I got fired
- Still best year ever
- I don't miss Target
- And I'm kind of glad they fired me
- Even though they did so unfairly
- And used lies to do it
- I would have sued if I had money
- Which they knew I didn't
- I'm not allowed in that Target anymore
- I'm not sure why
- I lost a lot of weight this past year
- And now I have a hard time stomaching overweight persons
- Getting down to a healthy weight was easy
- So now I find myself judging those who aren't
- Which is bad of me
- But when you're 300 pounds, you don't need a Venti Frappuccino
- And I don't regret giving those guests nonfat milk without telling them
- I sometimes pause in mirrors because I don't recognize my own face
- I kind of enjoyed not having a job
- I built a lot of MOCs during that time period
- Now I have two jobs
- And I miss all the free time
- And the staying up late
- And the sleep
- But I enjoy both of my jobs
- And I'm lucky to have two great jobs
- When so many people are having problems finding just one
- In 2010 I fell in love
- Brickfair was the highlight of my life
- Until October became the highlight of my life
- And then December overtook that
- Every day with you is the new best day of my life
- And if home is where the heart is
- Then my home is where you are
- I miss Andrews
- And Rob
- And Hanni
- And Yanni
- And Deb and Becca and Felicia and Josh and everyone else
- I love Ray
- He is the best Greyhound companion ever
- I rode a lot of Greyhound buses this year
- I took them to Texas
- Twice
- To NoVa
- To Oregon
- And paid for someone to come here on one
- Greyhound, you earned a lot of my money this year
- And you even lost my luggage
- And got me everywhere I traveled to late
- But then got me here on time every time
- Why is that?
- I miss you
- I made a new best friend this year
- Skype is great
- I've changed my life plans twice this year
- I thought I was going to be moving to Austin about now
- But instead I think it'll be a little farther Northwest
- You know what?
- I enjoy Ashton Kutcher
- I know that makes me a terrible person
- I am sorry
- Mumford and Sons is my 2010 band discovery
- That I discovered
- And then so did the rest of America
- I think 2010 saw me become the best version of me
- And I am so glad it did
- In 2010 I did actual professional photography
- And I think that is what I want to do with my life
- Besides travel
- And spend it with people I love
- I love you!
- My favourite staff perk is writing set reviews
- And is actually why I wanted to be staff to begin with
- And it bugs me when everyone thinks I'm always overly-critical
- I actually like some of these sets, you know
- And I've done more positive than negative reviews
- I try really really hard to take better set photos than anyone else
- Maybe too hard?
- I feel like most of my life is waiting
- I'm looking forward to the day when I don't spend each day trying to get to the next one so I can get to an event I'm looking forward to
- Do you see the irony in the last bullet?
- I never saw Avatar
- But Tron was amazing
- And I don't know what movie reviewers were watching
- Because it was awesome
- I finally cleaned my room
- And I only did it because someone was visiting us
- But it needed to be done
- Wish my brother, who made the mess had helped
- I'm actually looking forward to Transformers 3
- And I don't know what that says
- I ate my first hamburger this year
- And I only did that so I wouldn't look silly in front of a girl I liked
- I might be a little ridiculous
- I want to see mountains more often
- In 2010 I traveled more than I ever have in a year before
- And I visited states on both coasts this year
- This was the first time I'd ever been west of Oklahoma
- And I went to Austin three times
- I really like traveling
- I love you
- I think this year has just helped to prove that the American Dream and I are not in agreement
- I just don't want to live for a career and money
- When people are the important thing
- House of Heroes' "Suburba" is my album of the year
- I'm worried Primus might beat me at Brickfair 2011
- He came too close this year
- It might be time to bring out the big guns
- But not with actual guns, because I don't like building those
- I like swords a lot better
- This list is way long
- And I'm not sure it says anything important
- Besides "I love you"
- Which is the most important phrase ever
- Because Love wins
- And that's what I try to live by
- Sometimes I fail
- But I try
- And I think everyone deserves to know they're loved
- Especially you
- Because I love you
