It's About Time

I've been delaying a real photoshoot of, well, anything, because two weeks ago I ordered a refurbished Nikon d3000, which is basically the replacement for my old d40 on the market. It's not a huge upgrade, but it was cheap and I really wanted a new camera. So I paid ~$300 for it, and decided to also put out for the three-day shipping. Now, remember, this is a ~$600 camera, so this is half off. Two weeks later, and two blizzards later, I finally got the camera.

And when I ran the shutter count, to see how many times the shutter had been activated from the previous owner before it was refurbished, I got this delightful message:

Shutter count: 2.

That's right. It had been used once. The second photo was the one I took to test the numbers with.

I got a brand new camera for half price. It was worth the wait, and I think I'm going to sell my d40 and that should make the same amount back that I spent, so I'm going to basically have traded my used camera for a brand new one.

Awesome.

Expect some MOC photos soon.

Have you ever considered having people send you their MOCs and charging for photographing them?

It's really frustrating spending so much time on something and have the pictures look terrible.

I second this idea.

You'd make quite a bit on commissions if you put this into practice.
