Wheeeee!

So, the other day Nukaya and I were talking about video games.

I haven't really played a whole lot of video games since the Gamecube days, and even then, it was basically just Metroid Prime, SSBM, and Zelda: Wind Waker. (I've loved Zelda games since OoT back for the N64, and I bought Majora's Mask with my own money back in middle school). Anyway, we were talking about how we enjoy playing the Wii back at her parents' house, and how it would be nice to have one here in our house. She was jokingly like "hey, when you go get groceries today, you should just buy a Wii for us to play with and watch Netflix on" (because watching Say Yes to the Dress on my laptop gets boring, and I'd rather watch it on the television in our living room).

I jokingly looked them up on an online auction site...

And made a bid on one.

And won it.

Because I paid $145 for:

  • A black Wii
  • 2 black Wiimotes with Wii Motion Plus
  • 2 black nunchuks
  • 2 classic controllers
  • Wii sensor bar and Wii cords and stuff
  • Rechargeable battery packs and charging station
  • Wii Sports
  • Wii Sports Resort
  • Zelda Skyward Sword

Pretty thrilled with that price. I did the totaling up on Amazon for these things, and it came to around $300 all brand new. That's the only reason we did it, lol.

So in a few days we'll have a Wii and I'm going to play the heck out of some Zelda, and when I get my tax return we're going to get some SSBB. (And I'm going to use the rest of said return to pay for Brickfair).

Holyyyyy cow that's a steal.

Just FYI Rayman Origins is a great game for couples to play. It makes you want to laugh and kill each other at the same time (Rob and I played it last night and the whole thing ended in chaos.) It's our favorite Wii game right now.

Wow; that is a great deal. A very good deal, in fact. And Skyward Sword is amazing, as has been mentioned in the topic already. Also recommend Smash Bros definitely.

Nice deal! You won't be disappointed with Skyward Sword, btw. It's a freakin' awesome game :P

To be honest you'll probably be massively disappointed with SS. It's no Wind Waker. Still decent, mind, it just doesn't match WW, for me at least.

I don't expect anything better than Wind Waker, which I think is the best installment in the series, hands down. The graphics were gorgeous once you got used to it, and the immersion, with Link's eyes following items, being able to pick other items up, etc, was just top-notch.

The graphics in Skyward Sword are definitely showing off the console's age, and the sword is difficult to handle smoothly. It's still fun, though, and there's lots of engaging things to do.

Loving all the Wind Waker love; it's still my favorite and the only one I've played about 3 times now. The play felt rhythmic and flowed very well, though it was still very solid. It was as if you were making music the entire time. It was also bright and beautiful, and dungeons were very enjoyable (I often hate dungeons, in any Zelda game.)

Great deal! I hope you have a lot of fun!

Video games haven't really been able to maintain much of my own attention in a long time. I feel bad about it because as much as I love reading about video games or watching other people play them I don't have the patience or the resolve to play them all the way through most of the time. :(
