So guys: BricksCascade and Brickfair.

BricksCascade is the first weekend in June, and Brickfair the first weekend in August.

I am the coordinator for both, as we've previously established.

And, as also previously established, if you send me MOCs for BricksCascade, you will not only be eligible for one of our FOUR BIONICLE trophies (hand-made and designed by yours truly), but I can also take them to appear at Brickfair as well, for NO ADDITIONAL COST. Yes, this would mean I'd have your MOCs for probably a good three months. But they would appear at two conventions, on both coasts, and be a part of one of the best LEGO experiences ever. BricksCascade guys don't think we can do a good display there, as they say BrickCon has a lackluster display, and they think for a new convention, Cascade will have even less (and they have a point on the second part, last year I was the BIONICLE display at Fiesta). So I want to prove them wrong, and I NEED YOUR HELP TO DO SO.

At the end of this entry is the address to mail MOCs you'd like to have appear at Cascade or Cascade and Fair. (If you only want to do Fair, then firstly, boo on you, and secondly, that address might be different).

For all packages of MOCs sent into BricksCascade, you will receive:

- A prototype piece

- A note of gratitude from me IN MY OWN HANDWRITING! OMG!

- A chance to win a trophy I built (and you have a good chance, because though I will have a large display of my own, I am recusing myself from being nominated)

- Your MOCs professionally photographed by Nukaya and I

- A wider scope of recognition

- Did I mention prototype parts? (And MOCs sent to both might get extra, but shhhh)

- Love and adoration

Also, because I want you guys to know what you'd be in the running for, this is the trophy list for the BIONICLE section at BricksCascade:

- Best Overall BIONICLE MOC- For the best overall BIONICLE MOC. This is going to be the one that is the most visually impressive.

- Best Toa "Moderator"- For the best of the large and always-existent simple Toa/Hero Factory MOCs. And yes, the trophy will say "Moderator", not the shortened version of "Modification".

- Best Rahi- For the best non-humanoid MOC

- Best Use of Pieces- For the MOC that has the most innovative use of parts or techniques

I tried to pick a balance of trophies, so they don't all favour one particular group of people. I know several of you expressed interest in sending in basic ToaMods and the like, and I wanted to make sure you were included.

ANYWAY, here's the straight shipping info, yo:

- ALL MOCS MUST HAVE RETURN PAYMENTS ENCLOSED. Failure to pay for a return shipment might mean you don't get your stuff back anytime soon. I will do my best to make reasonable attempts to get you your stuff back. I have a lot of parts, I don't need yours.

- RETURN PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED VIA PAYPAL IF NECESSARY. This is especially important for those of you in different countries debating sending me stuff. This will be a lot easier than sending cash through customs.

- MOCS MUST ARRIVE THE LAST WEEKEND OF MAY

- PLEASE INCLUDE PHOTOS OF THE MOCS. Things break during shipping, I need to put them back together the way they are intended to be seen, not just a reasonable approximation.

- SHIP MOCS TO:

Patrick Biggs

c/o Ronnda Stapleton

230 NE 99th Ave

Portland, OR 97220-4414

- BROWNIE POINTS TO ANYONE WHO ADDRESSES THEIR PACKAGE TO NUKAYA'S PET CAT, HOBBES. BUT NOT BANDIT. SHE'S DUMB. OR TO THOSE WHO WRITE NUKAYA'S MOM A GOOFY NOTE ON THE PACKAGE OR DRAW HER SOMETHING APPROPRIATE AND FUNNY.

If you need any more information, do not hesitate to contact me, here in this entry, or by PM.

There will be a news story within the next week on the front page as well.

first i must say that i'm having a hard time choosing which mocs to send, since not only will the moc be on display but they also server another purpose. They represent who i am as a builder. i would love to send in my Self-moc but due to the fact he is all spray painted he his very hard to pose so i'm not gonna send him.

And kreos i feel your pain. I live in Tok, Alaska and if i were to attend any of then i would have to drive like a whole week and a half just to get to the convention.

also is hero factory mocs included in the bionicle display? because if so i have a hero moc that i have worked on and he is my self-moc for the hero theme.

Question i have thought about it and i was thinking about how there were older bionicle weapons like rhotuka spinners. well i have tried to take older weapons and incorporate them into newer designs. and i think it is always nice to see a moc in this day and age that incorporates older weapons on new moc styles.

Can I PM you a LDD file as well as/instead of photos to aid you in rebuilding MOCs? I'd like to send something but I'd have to partially disassemble it.

That should work just fine.

Just wondering, what about MOCs delivered in person? What should we do for those?

If you are attending BricksCascade, you certainly do not have to mail me anything. If you're not attending, but live in Portland, say, and want to show your MOCs, feel free to drop them by the convention sometime Thursday. If you want them to be at Fair as well, I can keep them and bring them back to Oregon with me and get them back to you. That would be a lot easier than the mail, lol.

Yes, Hero Factory MOCs will be in the BIONICLE section and will be eligible for the same prizes as the rest of the BIONICLE MOC section.

ok i'm glad i am debating on whether to send my hero factory self-moc Voxumo Teiner who is one of the first hero's built and can control the power of shadow and he is also a evil hero that has gathered 2 others and they are more like bounty hunters taking what ever job they can

I'll definitely try to send a few MOCs to the cons. I've never done it, should be interesting.

Edit: Wait, question. Would it be allowed to post WIPs of MOCs for this in our blogs? I'm not sure how that'd work with the blog rules, since this will end up being kind of a contest too.

Wait, so about my question, would we be allowed to post them or not? It's probably a really silly question, but I really don't know.

I have a few questions. First, can I PM the pics to you rather than shipping them? Second, do I have to include the added cost of shipping the prototype parts in the return shipping (I don't have a good understanding of how shipping costs of packages work, I understand it's weight-based)? If so, how much is added?

This is not a BBC contest, the trophy voting will be done by the person running the convention's BIONICLE section (as in, me), and while we are using BZPower to bring in MOCs, it is not a BZPower sanctioned contest. So yes, you can post whatever you want in your blog.

1- If you really have to, but it is preferred if you send some real photos, because when we put the MOCs back together (and they -will- fall apart), we will be doing so at the convention center and I cannot guarantee I will have my laptop or internet access to see them with.

2- I highly suggest everyone take a look at the US Post Office's Priority Shipping methods. One box, and whatever fits inside of it, no matter the weight, ships for the same price. This is how I do all of my shipping because it is also guaranteed to arrive in two to three days maximum.

Ack, disregard my last question. This one though, I have to ask: Can MOCs be sent in ahead of time?(more than likely a dumb question, but better to be safe than sorry.)sig.png

Yes, they can be sent in anytime between now and the last days of May.

I've got this fancy little doodad lying around but it is almost entirely Hero Factory. I'm assuming this would be okay to send and set on the Bionicle table.

Yes, that is my assumption.

Send it early. Uh, if you're worried about the shipment, pay for tracking. Use the USPS, UPS and Fedex are okay, but I think the USPS is cheaper and their Priority Shipping options are very speedy.

Looks like my return to BZP was rather timely indeed. I'm hoping to attend at least one of these conventions, and geographically speaking it'll probably be Cascade. So what I might do is drive down to Portland and after the Con leave some MOCs with you, and then after Fair you can send them back in my general direction.

Also, it appears you recently made a trip to my hometown. Next time you're around, do say hi (*is all excited because he managed to instantly identify Granville Island from just the top photo in the content block over to the right*).

That sounds like a plan, and also next time we're in Vancouver we should totes say hi. It's crazy how close you are to another BZP member by Granville Island too.

Hey, can I send to Cascade only, then, after getting it back, wait, then send it just in time for Fair? Or does it have to be kept until Fair if I want to send it there?

It's going to be a lot lot easier for me to keep them. I can't guarantee that I get them back to you in time for that. There's really only a four week break between planning for the two, and it's going to be cheaper for you to send it to just one and have me send it back after both conventions.
