I built LEG- a computer
The past three days I've spent fiddle faddling with a new system and its components. It was not fully assembled until yesterday in the wee hours of the morning. I'm still in the process of downloading, updating, and installing but having a computer that is not five years old is amazing.
It feels even better since I assembled the unit myself. I put a fair chunk of change into it, but I spent less on it than my previous laptop for school. It is so shiny. It is quiet too! My disc drive on my laptop was constantly ejecting upon power-up and ran like it had a pair of car keys stuck in it. (Not that I know what that sounds like...)
The best part is the computer boots in under thirty seconds and I can be online in about a minute... my laptop took a good five minutes to properly boot up. I still need to reinstall my Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite CS3 (that's the only edition I have, hopefully it'll install and run properly), Skype, and a few other things. Plus I have all my additional files that I'll need to transfer to the new computer. The SSD will hold me over for now, but I plan on purchasing a mechanical hard-drive for the unit due to the sheer size of those drives. I have an external terabyte that is only halfway full. I might end up migrating my laptop data to it and transferring from it on a case by case basis. (Just a pain since it is a powered external and I don't like leaving it plugged in.)
You probably want some specs for the unit so here goes:
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40 GHz8GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Radeon HD7700 1GB
256 GB SSD
XFX - Ultra Overclock Edition Radeon HD 7770 1GB DDR5
It also just occurred to me... that I have no webcam or mic (not that I use Skype that often to merit an immediate purchase) or a card-reader...
Speaking of! I have pictures on my camera of the computer... but I don't have a card reader to plug the SD into, and my USB cable is in the original packaging boxed away somewhere.
Pictures!
