I thought we knew it was going to air super early already? But yeah ok, I'm looking forward to it. Is it going to be online-exclusive again? I was kinda traumatized by the scroll bar last time....

Not that I'm complaining. Kinda makes up for that ridiculous 16 month break in between seasons 1 and 2.

Yes, it looks like the series will still be digital-only.  You'd think Nickelodeon would've learned their lesson after Venom of the Red Lotus became the highest rated episode in the Avatar franchise...

I'm not sure what lesson you're referring to, but according to Brian and Michael numbers for those who streamed and downloaded the show digitally where much larger than those who tuned in to watch it on television. That, combined with the fact that Nick was having issues marketing a show geared toward a slightly older audience, led to the decision to stream the rest of the series. It was kind of a sloppy transition, sure, but not an insensible one.

I guess I've just viewed it as Nick giving up on Korra, so I was wondering if its comeback might cause them to re-evaluate the decision.  When you put it like that, though, it does make more sense.

On the one hand, this sounds an awful lot like Nick trying to burn off the rest of the series. On the other, WOO MORE KORRA!!!

I wonder what might be in store once the series is over... at the very least, maybe there'll be Korra graphic novels like the current Avatar ones. I would not be opposed to that.

I seem to vaguely recall one of the creators saying that, after Book 4 ended, he just wanted to go get some sleep, and I can hardly blame him. But with how successful the franchise is, I'm sure there will continue to be some form of media.

I'll feel kind of sad when it's over. It doesn't seem to have the same overall story that AtLA has (Sozins Commit and all) so it feels like no matter what ending they give us, we'll be wanting more. I'd be totally fine if season five pops up on some other internet-only network in a couple of years... but it would've been nice to have spread out these two seasons a little more.

 

Yeah, the lack of a unified story is one thing I dislike about Korra.  I'm hoping that Book 4 will connect back to previous Books a bit more, and it seems like the Red Lotus might be a partial cure to that (saying that Unalaq was a member to tie in Book 2 and then saying there are still more members out there, possibly to appear in Book 4).  So, maybe if they can bring back the Red Lotus and make the Equalists relevant again...

 

EDIT: I just found out that it has been confirmed: Hiroshi Sato will return in Book 4.  We can't be completely sure what this means, but I'm guessing it could relate to the return of the Equalists and/or more character development for Asami, both of which will be tremendous.

 

EDIT AGAIN: Someone pointed out that the trailer Nicktoons is using to promote their Korra marathon actually has a clip from Book 4 in it--very brief, but we see Kuvira and she seems at least a little sinister.  ALSO, there will be a Korra panel at New York Comic-Con on October 9th!  A look at Korra's new outfit/hairstyle was released with the announcement.  There have also been some bits of news about the upcoming game if anyone's interested, and the release date for the Book 3 DVDs (December 2nd).
