If you don't have the crowbar yet, I assume you're still in the level Insertion Point.

 

There's not much to do in this level other than escape Civil Protection. Have you made it to the apartments yet?

 

Also there's nothing wrong with playing HL2 before HL1. HL2's story is mostly unrelated to the past games, although there's quite a few references to the first game you might not fully get (such as references to happenings at Black Mesa and the "border world", Xen).

That's what I had been working on doing. =P I hadn't realized that there was a ladder hiding in plain sight. >>;

 

So, after all that, I finally got the crowbar, and CP is using me as Target Practice as I run valiantly toward... Wherever I'm going. =P

 

It's a good game so far, though. =) Controls can be a bit touchy at times, but well, it's obviously not going to be up to Mouse-and-keyboard standards. =P ... Was there a dash function in HL1? =P

Ah yes, the ladder. Took me forever to find that. I figured you were stuck there.

 

And HL2 has a dash feature. I'm not sure what button it is on Xbox, but it's there. (Protip: you can hold down this button to run for a short amount of time, but it uses up your suit's power).

1. Yep. =P Now I'm stuck with all the CP shooting at me while I try my hardest to aim and shoot back. =P Gonna be slightly difficult getting used to a second thumbstick to aim.

 

2. The button is mapped to X, I just don't remember it from playing Half Life 1 on the PC. xD Could be part of the new engine, I don't know. =P

 

/EDIT: Dang, now I'm not sure of the way out of the canals, and I only have 12 bullets left. D=
