Alternative Titles: I Have Now Upgrade! ... To the Demo!

-=Entry=-

So, to continue on, I gave up on Classic for now. It'll become fully useless anyway, if I ever get the full version, after all.

However, that would leave me with nothing to play, you say? Not true! There is, in fact, now a demo that lasts for five days and nights!(However, sleeping automatically takes off up to ten minutes of play time, due to the way the counter works)

I have made made it to the time limit twice now, and in the last completion, I also made it to bedrock in my makeshift base, along with making a skylight. =) Speedrunning? Me? Naaaah, it can't be.

I ran into gold and Redstone on my way down, though, and I stupidly wasted all my iron on making a chestplate instead of a pick. -_-; I just made my base right in front of my spawn point, though; that way if I die like I did yesterday...(Note to self, and others: If you've dug down like 25 blocks, try not to jump right down into the mineshaft. You will die.) then you just respawn outside, and can just head back to get your stuff quickly. =)

That said, does anyone know how to use a ladder properly? So that I don't go soaring through the air while trying to go down a ladder to the depths of my mineshaft? =/

Yeah, that's what I've been doing; but that's also how I died... Move to descend the ladder, accidentally walk forward too much, fly down the shaft, and die as I futilely try to grab the ladder instead of hitting the ground. =P

That works well, if the whole 'flying' part doesn't happen, though. =P I just wish the old glitch I've seen happen in LPs before was still present, where you only needed to place a ladder every two steps. Though, since you get three ladders per every seven sticks, it's not that bad, especially if you make tons of sticks and craft them all at once, like I did last night. =P

If you're making a 2x1 or bigger shaft, you can put a roof on the very top blocks expect for the one where the ladder is, so missing the ladder will cause you to walk onto the roof. If the shaft is deep enough and isn't bigger than about 3x3, you can also strafe while in mid-air and get back on the ladder. Or you can fill the bottom of the shaft with 3-block deep water, or use signs to suspend 1-block deep water 2-3 blocks above the floor.

Also pressing shift while on the ladder will make you stop in place on the ladder, however if you move while locked on the ladder you will sometimes slide to the sides.

Ooh. That's pretty cool. I think i had known about the glass floor for the top of the shaft, but I keep forgetting to do it. >_<

Also, my shafts are about 3x3, with one extra block in the center dug out, so that I don't fall off the ladder by heading to the sides.

Hadn't considered the water, though; though I'd likely only do that when I get to bedrock. =)
