Then, earlier today, I watched the Bohrok Animations for the first time(Yes I know, tie me to a cross and burn the blasphemous). But while watching it I realised. Screw what Bionicle did for me. What about what Templar Studios did for Bionicle?
They made the characters of Bionicle not just boring robotic heroes, but actually beings that had compassion just like people. My favorite scene in the whole of any MNOG product was the Po-Koro scene in the Bohrok animations. So much is happening with the characters in such a short space of time and its gread.
First of we have a bit of humour when Hafu realises he has to break down his statues. I want to point out MNOG humour is just the best. But that humour soon vanishes as we actually see Hafu breaking down his sculptures in order to same Po-Koro leaving him trapped on the outside. Then we cut to Hewkii screaming about Hafu. So we see, just by that these two have a strong friendship. I think I love the fact that Hafu knows hes going to die in this scene and he is willing to sacrifice himself(and his pride and joy) to save his home and the Matoran inside. If thats not Bad*** I dont know what it. But then Pohatu saves the day by getting Hafu back into Po-Koro with the help of Hewkii. Then the two Matoran hug each other which is actually really touching.
I know it may sound a little far fetched but Im not sot sure if the Bionicle story would be what it was if not for MNOG. I actually think they single-handedly set the tone of Bionicle with providing a template for the atmosphere. It also made us aware that these were characters on not just toys
Six Bionicle toys (Kopaka, Avak, Kalmah, Mutran, Macku and Whenua) are transported into the Bionicle world by an unknown force. At first, this seems like a dream come true for the team has dreamed of nothing more that becoming real Bionicles, and known has dreamed this dream as much as Kopaka. They soon find out that being a real Bionicle isnt all its cracked up to be. In the midst of a brutal war, the six are stranded are forced to take sides. But how far will they go to fit into the new world they have been thrown into?
I dont know if this is something that would interest anyone but one of my main concerns in the humour. Now dont get me wrong, I dont find myself devoid of all things funny, in fact wuite the contrary. I just dont know how well it could be translated to a comic... but we will see.
Anyway... have a nice day/night...
On the plus side I have been reading A LOT more. Something of which I didn't do too much of before. I am currently eating through the Republic Commando series. I'm not a HUGE Star Wars fan anymore but the series is very, very good.
Anyway, thanks for reading.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
And I dont mean the drums. The drums are fine. Mana and/or Otus (I don't know if Otus managed to record anything before his passing) did a superb job. It was the backing vocals. Kita had a distinct voice when it came to backing vocals and I didn't think I would miss them as much as I did.
Anyway, that's all I have to say about it. Its good but not as good as the other five.
I mean like really cool. But, what I'm going to say, people aren't going to like. Kopakas are annoying as heck in the real world. I mean, when you think about it, it sounds really cool. Then you realise. Who is most like Kopaka that you know? Can't they be reeeeeaaaaaally annoying at times? Darn right they can. They analytically think everything, they think they are some sort of chief. And when they speak...
Okay, here is another thing that doesn't work in the real world: Cool dialogue. I mean, seriously its annoying. I think the worst part is that you can tell the person thinks theyre so chief when they say it. You can practically hear the music playing in their head as they speak. I'm really empathizing with Tahu right now. If Bionicle was real, do you really think Tahu and Kopaka would have made up and ben buddies? I highly doubt it. The whole thing was just thrown in there like "Two contrasting characters who are completely different bond in the end". There is nothing wrong with that. Its heart warming, it really is. Just thought it was a good point to throw out there.
I guess I'm not so much talking about Kopakas. Because the truth is Kopakas don't exist. They're an idealistic character that we either want to be or want as a friend. People arent that perfet. I think my gripe is wannabe Kopakas. Darn you Kopaka I want to be you.
