Don't really feel like writing up too much today. Put as short as I can: love everything I got this month (some I didn't expect to or even planned on at all getting as always), but the effort put forth in getting some was way, way too much; this should be so much easier than it is sometimes.

Doctor Wars - December (Christmas) Haul

Star Wars, Doctor Who, Nintendo and 2 more...

  • S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Knuckle Kurumi Arms
  • S.H. Figuarts Battle Droid
  • S.H. Figuarts Clone Trooper Phase 1
  • S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kurokage Mastubokkuri Arms
  • Transformers Combiner Wars Shockwave
  • Funko Pop! BB-8
  • LEGO Ideas Doctor Who
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
  • A Song of Ice and Fire: A Feast for Crows
  • Star Wars: A New Dawn
  • Doctor Who Monopoly
  • Doctor Who t-shirt (not pictured)
  • Star Wars clock
  • Nintendo Amiibo Lucas
  • S.H. Figuarts First Order Stormtrooper
  • S.H. Figuarts Kylo Ren
(BB-8 through the clock are from Christmas.)

Figuarts dominated my purchases this month, with Star Wars being very prominent throughout everything really. But let's talk Kamen Rider first. With Knuckle and Kurokage in my hands, I finally have all Gaim Riders!! Yes! There's still Lord Baron to look forward to, but otherwise I'm done and I freaking love looking at them all together.

The Star Wars Figuarts are a mixed bag of mostly good. The one I don't like is the Clone Trooper. While it looks great, it suffers immensely in the articulation department. Hips are as rubbish as the Stormtrooper's (I'm serious when I say they may be the worst I've had from a Figuart) and I just can't seem to get him to hold his gun closer to his body. Thankfully the First Order Stormtrooper absolutely blows them out of the water. The hips in particular are great; they're a brand new design for the entire line and I think are only the second Figuart to use something like it. I haven't had as much time to mess with it, but it's great. Kylo Ren I also only picked up yesterday, but so far I'm liking him. Not much to say there other than he's cool. The real standout - which is odd even to me - is the Battle Droid. Wow. This Battle Droid... is perfect. Anything I want to do, it can, and looks great doing so.

Lucas I ordered from AmiAmi to be sent with my December order as a very last minute thing before it shipped since he randomly came back in stock. At least now I don't have to worry about him next month and can take an Amiibo break for a while until the next two come out. I think I like him more than Ness's Amiibo to be honest. Shockwave was the first Transformer I picked up in a long while and I love the little guy. Just such a good figure. Finally, I really need to find a place to display my Pop! vinyls now with BB-8 joining the party. That was an early Christmas gift from my fiancée and I simply adore it. Plus he's a bobblehead, which is super fun.

Got some new forms of media entertainment for the first time in a while. Was holding off on a few purchases explicitly for the holidays, so I'll probably be getting the rest of those soon now. Anyways, got another A Song of Ice and Fire book that I'll get to eventually. Good news is I'm almost done with other book so I can start reading the one before it soon haha. Also have my second new canon Star Wars book, which I only realized as I started to write this that it's the same size as all of the others........ When Tarkin wasn't and I swear copies of A New Dawn I saw in the bookstore before were the same as it..... So much for that excitement I had over the easily noticeable split between Legends and canon on my shelves haha. Oh, and I got Majora's Mask like I figured. I've only played it a little but wow I can see this one taking me a good long while.

I didn't make a dedicated Christmas haul post this year since I really just didn't feel like it. But the miscellaneous things remaining in my list come from there. The clock I included because it's cool; it came from my sister, as well as the silverware I mentioned elsewhere that she'd be getting me. Sorry, no pictures of that. :P I also didn't think to take pictures of the Doctor Who Monopoly or t-shirt, and they're still in the process of being shipped to Texas right now. But they, and the Ideas Doctor Who set (also in the mail so haven't built it yet but ohhh how I want to!), came from my fiancée's side of the family. There was definitely a noticeable theme there haha.

So yeah. That's this month and thus 2015 over. I plan to do a collection update once my Christmas packages arrive so I can include those things. A lot has changed since just May.

  • Nintendo Amiibo Donkey Kong
So much came out this month that I had my eyes on. Wow. And circumstances had me able to get a lot of it right away that I probably would have waited for honestly.

Transformers: Combiner Wars, man. So freaking awesome. And except for Powerglide, I got all I want from the first wave already! Thank you, for once, HasbroToyShop. I also snagged Chromia and Brainstorm from there, since they were completely skipped over (as the last wave of 2014) by stores here. And cemented my interesting in Masterpiece, we also have Ultra Magnus. This guy is huge and incredible and I love him.

I finally got hardcore into Amiibo... Yeahhh... I really hate Nintendo for how they're handling these. Pretty much going to preorder from overseas starting with wave 4 just to make sure I actually get everything. But hey, some of these are pretty darn cool - like Bowser. That guy has some nice heft to him and the detail and paint work is incredible. By far my favorite so far.

Duke and Kirito actually arrived at the end of December, but, well, I wasn't here to pick them up, so here they are now. Kirito looks great, but man is getting his swords into his hands just an absolute pain in the butt. Duke is yet another addition to my growing cast of Gaim and... eh yeah, wasn't too excited for him, but I do love his yellow lemony self in hand. Saber 2.0 finally also saw release after a couple delays and while I haven't messed with her too much yet, she's also a fine addition and Archer won't look so odd on the shelf by himself anymore heh. Luigi is... eh. What I expected based on Mario and looks good, but definitely not the best that Figuarts has to offer. Oh, and I picked up some more Star Wars books to add to the backlog while looking for calendars. I hate seeing that Legends banner. Hate it so much. But dang, those are some nice new covers they made for them!

What's left... Hmm... I don't...

Oh yeah! BIONICLE, baby! I meant to go slow with them, since they should last until the summer wave, but just a few weeks after their release and I already have 5/13. Oops? Ah well, when LEGO offers you free shipping, why not take advantage of it haha. It feels so great to have new BIONICLE sets in hand and all of the ones I have really impress me. Can't wait to finish off the wave, but that'll probably take some time.

I also did buy a pair of bookshelves and finished putting them together yesterday. About half of the rearranging is done now. So some time in early February will be a new collection update.

Merry Christmas! - The Haul

Posted by Ektris , in Movies, Reading, Video Games, Collecting Dec 25 2014 · 261 views
Star Wars, Game of Thrones and 3 more...
Hope everybody who celebrates had a wonderful day. :)

So amidst the mountain of clothes and treats and literal large empty boxes with names written on the side for things to buy soon and ship directly to Texas instead of doing it ourselves (those were fun to open :P), I think I did get some haul-worthy stuff heh.

Posted Image

LEGO Movie and GTAV from the fiancée, books and Wolf Among Us from parents, and Xbox Live cards from future in-laws. ^_^

Overall I think I had a pretty enjoyable Christmas (and Eve). Spent a lot of time with family and ate way too much.

Naruto: End of an Era

Posted by Ektris , in Reading Nov 06 2014 · 412 views
Naruto, Manga
...Sort of. There is still the epilogue canon movie (set before the last two chapters to bridge the time gap) and a short series coming next year starring the next generation, but besides that it's over! :P

I've not been reading Naruto since the beginning, but I have been interested in it ever since the very first episode aired on Toonami all those years ago. It's kind of surreal to see such a juggernaut end (though of the big three [two?], I do wish a certain other one had ended sooner than Naruto..) that I've been into for so long. All those hours poured into reading and watching and at least it does have a proper resolution, even if it did get a tad convoluted at times heh.

That said, what does happen in the future and all the pairings and stuff... ugh, pitifully predictable.
