Exams Done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Daily Life, Education Jun 06 2015 · 23 views

Well, I had my last exam on Friday, which went about as poorly as expected. I guess that at least means I haven't had any expectations crushed =P
Either way, it's a relief to finally have it out of the way and not have to think about it anymore. I was approaching breaking point with stress and anxiety, and it's good to at least have that source of it removed.

And so that's it. My three years of university have passed, and hopefully so have I. Quite the three years, these were. It's interesting to reflect on them and see both how much and how little I've changed. It's definitely going to feel very strange not having university anymore.

For now, I can relax for while, which is really nice. I'll be trying to focus on music this summer, specifically honing my guitar skills, as well as messing around with FL Studio and other software, while I try to set up a good opportunity to move to either Japan or Norway for a while. We'll see how that goes.

Back to University

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education Oct 01 2014 · 134 views

As of yesterday, my third year of university has officially begun. While I've certainly missed it, at the same time I do find myself wishing it hadn't started just yet.

The day went well enough. Had three lectures on land law, which isn't the most boring module I've studied so far. Pretty close though.

Spent some of the free time visiting the local record/movie store. Didn't find many interesting CDs, but they did have a large selection of films by Wong Kar-Wai. I'll definitely be going back on Friday to get the ones I don't have yet, but in the meantime I picked up Love Exposure, The Twilight Samurai and The Flowers of War.
I guess I've shifted form buying too many albums to buying too many movies.

Second year of university done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Daily Life, Education May 24 2014 · 181 views

Having done my last exam a couple of days ago, I have now finished my second year of university, which feels pretty good.
The exam in question was really nasty, and I don't think I did very well on it. Still, I doubt it was bad enough to not even pass, and my assignments were good, so that will bump the grade up.
This year hasn't been anywhere near as good as the last. It's been really stressful and I'm glad it's finally over. It feels really nice to be able to relax guilt-free for a while and I can finally start catching up on all the movies and games I've bought.

Also, got my hands on this:

Steelbook DVDs are pretty awesome.
Now I just have to wait for Ghost in the Shell: Arise to finish and hopefully get an actual release over here. I'd very much like to have a complete GitS collection.

Exams Done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education Jan 08 2014 · 121 views

Handed in my university assignments on Monday, had exams yesterday and today, and now I have the rest of the month off, which is very nice.

Exams went alright, I suppose, although neither of them really had much room to talk about what I know the most unfortunately. The Law of Tort exam on Tuesday had no room for volenti and very little for public and private nuisance, and today's EU Law exam didn't really provide many opportunities to talk about the free movement of persons.
Still, the questions were pretty nice. The EU exam had a very nice question on the free movement of goods, and got to mention trespass ab initio in Tort.

Oh, and one of the questions in the Tort exam had Harry Potter characters in it. Obviously that was one of the three I chose to do. When there's a question that includes scenarios like Albus giving bad financial advice to Neville about share investments, followed by the property that Albus was going to turn into an office building being set on fire which spreads to Severus' property, you don't not do it.

University Results

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education Jun 28 2013 · 123 views

Well, I got my results for my first year of university today and I am very happy because I passed, with a B in each module. Not that I thought I was going to fail, but it's a massive relief nonetheless to know that I'll definitely be coming back next year.
I guess now I can truly relax for the rest of summer.

Last Exam Done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education May 30 2013 · 114 views

Just finished my last exam, and so my first year at university comes to an end.
It's been a fun year and I enjoyed it. Met lots of new people and made some new friends, although with us all being from different parts of the country, I probably won't see many of them over the summer.
Not sure when I'll go back home to London, but I'll probably stay here for another week or so. My lease doesn't end until the 23rd, so might as well make some use of it.

I'm not entirely sure if School's Out by Alice Cooper still fits, but I'll be listening to it today regardless. It's become somewhat of a habit now.

Exam Went Fairly Well

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education, Daily Life May 23 2013 · 103 views

So the exam went much better than I thought it would. The first two questions were very nice and easy, but kind of fell apart at the third one, partly due to lack of time, partly because it wasn't a very nice question.
But hey, it was a choice of three questions out of seven, so at least I wasn't stuck with the other four, which were pretty horrible.

Having a bit of free time, got myself a new headset and a new pair of earphones, since my old ones broke. It always feels strange switching to a new headset because I get so used to how the old one sounds.
Also picked up a couple of books: The Revolution of Everyday Life by Raoul Vaneigem, having previously read a library copy, and Selected Poems 1947-1995 by Allen Ginsberg, having enjoyed what I've read of his work.

First Exam Tomorrow

Well, I have my exam in Criminal Law at 10 tomorrow.
Got to say, I'm pretty nervous, although I am looking forward to getting it out of the way.

All Assignments Done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Daily Life, Education May 16 2013 · 81 views

Well, after handing in 3300 words worth of law coursework on Tuesday and doing my mooting assignment earlier this morning, I now have nothing but exams to look forward to.
The moot went fairly well, although having went with a white shirt and a red tie I resembled Agent 47 from the Hitman series more than I intended (although I do have hair of course). Not necessarily a bad thing, but I was going for more of a lawyer look rather than a professional assassin look.
It has been a very busy month and will continue to be so with exams on the 23rd and the 30th, the first of which I'm not feeling too good about. I do have a week to fix that though, so hopefully my first year of university will turn out alright.

First Semester Of University Done

Posted by Emilie Autumn , in Education Dec 18 2012 · 137 views

Well, submitted my last two assignments this morning, and with that it's the end of my first semester of university. Got to say it was quite enjoyable. Very enjoyable even. Definitely the most enjoyable time I've had in education so far. I'm glad that I decided to go with Law after all, as it's actually a very interesting and relevant subject. Although the workload multiplies at a rather staggering rate if left unattended for even the tiniest amount of time, most of that work is fairly interesting and engaging.

However, I would have thought that at this point I'd be able to pull myself together enough not to leave large chunks of assignments unfinished, only starting to finish them within the last 24 hours before the submission deadline.
Apparently not.

Well, it's still a big relief not having anymore coursework to do for the time being. Now I get more time to do nothing.
