I'm an adult!
So today was my 18th birthday!
I don't feel any more responsible.
I had some nice cake, lots of pizza, and I got a $25 Xbox gift card plus a controller charging station!
I bought Halo 3: ODST for The Master chief collection, and funnily enough just in time to get a date-specific achievement.
I'm very happy with My Xbox One a month on. I've finished Tomb Raider and Valiant hearts (I had played them both on PC before, but it was a good excuse to replay them) , all the campaigns in the MCC (sans ODST) , and am almost done with Episode 2 of The Walking dead Season 1 (I watched a let's play of it when it was coming out, to my everlasting shame. I'm happily rectifying that mistake now though) .
I haven't played The Deer God or GOW much so far, but I'll probably get around to them eventually.
No idea what I'll do with the remaining $20 from the gift card, I'll probably wait to see if any of the deals with gold catch my eye. I'm excited to see what the GWG for next month will be, since it'll be the first month with Backwards compatibility.

It's Been a While
It's funny to look back on this blog after being away from it for over a year. I read some of the things I was talking about, and it's funny to think where it's ended up. It's funny to think, but since my last blog entry:
1) I've bought my first home.
2) I've recieved my first promotion.
But neither of those would've been possible without the third thing: I met the love of my life, who motivated me to push myself harder than ever to get to where I am now. I've completed my first two half-marathons, gotten into better shape, and found a regular place for myself in a company softball team.
Most importantly: I'm getting married in Novemeber. The woman I met just a few days after my Jan 23rd blog post ended up being just the person I needed in my life. So I apologize for disappearing off the face of the Earth, and I hope that those of you who have been doing your best to stay in touch don't feel like I've left you behind. This forum was a big part of my life for a long time, and I'll always hold a spot for it in my heart.

Fevers fevers
Remember how last year, during my spring break, I had a pretty bad fever?
Well after a few days of minor sickness, I got a fever today. It happens to be the week before a break from school, too. I may have to miss the last two days of school depending on how I feel, but I hope nothing major happens since the semester is ending this Friday and finals finished today.
At least those art supplies I ordered are here to keep me company... and my DSi (aaaaah I want a 3DS for Pokemon).

Stop Locking My Entries!
That's not a command...haha.
But in response. B6, Yes, I did. I did mention that I was very snarky with you. Also, thanks for completely disregarding my point in all three propositions. You guys are not taking evident steps to take care of this matter. :/ My point EXACTLY is that there is WAY too much room to misinterpret the rules, and that's YOUR (staff) fault, not ours (members). That's why you need to make the rules more clear! It shouldn't have to be this complicated, I'm just trying to help. :/ Also, you should know I wasn't particularly calling you a fool. I'm sorry you took it that way...
But seriously...
Members, I want YOUR feedback on my previous entry. Do you think I'm right? Do my propositions make sense or am I a lunatic?
Ahem, this is not to dig my hole deeper, just trying to save some future trouble, to be honest. :/
Also, I wondered if anyone had the answer to my question in my previous entry, about editing Staff member's blog comments...?

I'm still alive! (but not really)
But don't tell nobody.
In all seriousness though, I might actually come back here if the leaks are true.
In the meantime, I'm gonna get back to playing on the xbox one with some mods from this site.
And I'm waaaay too lazy to find the font or do my signature anymore.

An adorable new acquisition
I've been wanting to get a copy of the original WALL-E set for a while now. This morning a local independent Lego store got one in and I couldn't resist!
The box is in absolutely mint condition, like it just came off the shelf - and it's staying that way! Won't be building him anytime soon, if ever. He was a bit pricey, but I traded in a few sealed sets that I had duplicates of to make the purchase more palatable.
Now I need to get the new Brickheadz version!

A Novel Concept: The Lord of Misrule
So last November I participated in NaNoWriMo, and actually suceeded in writing a 50,000 word Novel. I'd really like to publish it, but there's a lot of work that's between now and then, if ever.
What was my book, you ask? Well:
The Lord of Misrule
There used to be magic in the world. REAL magic. But as time went on, the magic faded. Now no one believes that it ever existed.
Except for the Actors.
Hidden away in the world is a special school dedicated to teaching actors and their ilk the ways of magic in their craft, to keep it alive in a world of cynicsim and blurred lines. Like every school, it has its quirks, in-jokes, and traditional celebrations. The most famous is the Feast of Fools, their own version of Homecoming. And the King of it all is the Lord of Misrule. Thing is, no one ever knows who it is. The voting process is a secret, and the mask is never removed.
And This year, Elijah Goodblood plans to take the crown.
The Lord of Misrule is about a magic school for actors, performers, and those who work behind the scenes. It's not wave-a-wand magic like in Harry Potter-No, this is more subtle. The magic is born from light, movement, props; It is a product of many parts, rather than a reaction to an action.
It's also about the Green Room Gang, a collection of students who hang out in the New Globe's Green Room when not in class. A variety of students from numerous locales, backgrounds, and previous theatrical education. And the crazy shenanigans that they get up to.
It's also about Elijah Goodblood, a sophomore member of the Green Room Gang who wants to win the title and position of Lord of Misrule, essentially the Homecoming King. Winning this title is acknowledgement of his abilities as a prankster and humorist.
There may also be a cat hidden in the Girl's dorm. Just to let you know.
***
So I've written this book. Now comes the fun part: Re-writing the whole thing!
When I first wrote it, there were two main characters: Elijah, who drove the plot, and Avalon, who introduced the readers to the school. After some reflection, I decided that two characters with unrelated goals split the reader's focus too much, So I've narrowed it down to one. Elijah's still going to help little freshman Avalon adjust to her new school, but for the most part the story's focused on him.
I've also changed the focus, screentime, and overall helpfulness of the Green Room Gang. In the original Script, they made cameo appearances and didn't do much in the way of story. I'm giving them more focus and more impact into Elijah's choices; this group is almost like a family. (and is certainly made up of a few.) Also, there's way too many fun characters to not use.
Considering that, some of the other characters I've made (Namely Elijah and maybe Avalon's roommates) are going to be given less focus or cut altogether. They've been fun to write, so they may stay, but I really need to re-work their characters or meld them into existing ones. If I write more books, they may re-appear, but for now they don't have a lot of influence on my main character, so out they go.
I also need to put more focus on the school itself. One of the few things I didn't like about Harry Potter in its later years was how little school was focused on, despite it being a part of the students' everyday lives. I want to show my characters in class, workshops, shop hours outside of class, ect... I want to show them interacting with professors and directors in a positive way, not the you-got-caught kind of way. These kids are in school and I want them to act like it!
There's also a lot of little things that happen in the background, like hammering out the timeline and everyone's schedules. (Not that it matters for some students...) This whole post was mostly a personal lining-out of my next steps.
So since approximately half my book is going in the dustbin, There's a lot of writing to do.
I can't wait to get started.

11 years
Wild. 11 years on this charming little forum. So many memories!
Life's at a tipping point, looking forward to a big career move, moving on from other stuff I've been with for a long time. I've been going to a lot of concerts and that's been so much fun! Janelle Monae and Paramore most recently, both were magical experiences. Been going to a lot of museums, too. I've been following Christian Faber's Rebel Nature project for a while and I can't wait to see it released, it seems so wholesome. I finally went to Pride again! My first time was seven years ago, it's so nice to look back and see how much freer and gayer my life has become since then, I'm really grateful for everyone who's contributed to that. Also, uh, I'm really excited about the state of science fiction right now, Star Wars and Star Trek and Doctor Who are really pleasing me right now and I can't believe it's all just getting started. That's been keeping me going.
I hope everyone is prospering and living their best lives, love you all <3
