So today marks my 5-year BZ-anniversary. Forgot completely about it until I saw that I had an Olmak. Half a decade, wow. Lot of memories from this place. Many awesome people that I've met, and, most importantly, the beginning of my writing career. Thank you, BZPower. And because I didn't write anything specifically for my anniversary, I'll just shamelessly plug my new poem again. =P COT literature always gets buried so quickly...Anyway, here's to many more half-decades on BZPower! ~ :: :: ~ 9/11 has always been one of my favorite days of the year. Not because I am necessarily happy, but because of the attitude and the respect that people show (hopefully) on this day. It's a day of remembrance, a day of prayer, a day of memory, a day of sadness, a day of reflection, a day of respect, a day of honor, a day of fervor, a day of comforting, a day of charity, a day of love. A day to remind us of what happened, to honor those who suffered and died that day. A day to remind
The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak ISBN: 0375842209 Publisher: Alfred A. (Katie B=Ezorov) So today, I'd like to dedicate this blog entry to the Egg Bagels that have now passed on to a better life. Their sacrifice, will not be in vain. A moment of silence, please. --- Are we crazy? ~ Velox

Heh, been a while. Anyway, one of my birthday presents was a Nook Tablet. Gotta say, I'm definitely loving it. It's going to be very useful when I go to college this fall, as I'll be able to download a lot (most likely) of my textbooks, so I can just carry around my slick Nook instead of a bunch of books. Not to mention it's really awesome for if I ever want to read outside of my house -- waiting rooms, plane trips, car trips, etc. Of course, the problem is that I buy most of my books at a
Was. Amazing. Hands down one of the greatest movies I've seen, if not the greatest. I really don't know what else to say. =P I highly, highly recommend it. Avengers didn't come close. (I'll probably try to write up an actual review later, but for now I simply can't. It was so amazing. [and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is awesome]) ~ Velox
...I don't use this blog much. =/ And my subtitle even says "ramblings" yet there aren't many of those here. Whoops. Mainly that's because the things I rant/ramble about most are either political or religious, so can't be posted here. But I'm sure I could find some things to rant about here. Like today for example. Except it's not going to be much of a rant, as I'm far too excited. The Dark Knight Rises tomorrow!!! I honestly cannot even put into words how excited I am without being entir
The Ambage Epic Review Pass To write well, you need constructive criticism. No writer is perfect -- everyone can improve. Therefore, reviews are necessary. Everyone posts stories on BZPower to get feedback. This "Review Pass" system will help with that. A "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" type of thing. Or rather, "I'll scratch his and you scratch mine and she'll scratch yours and he'll scratch hers and she'll scratch his, etc." Here's how it works: You review the requested sto

Writing Achievements for the Ambage Sometimes the most elusive thing for a writer to find is motivation. You might have all the ideas ready, but without a goal, you can get stuck. These individual achievements are meant to provide you, the writer, with something to
So yesterday (well, Sunday, considering it's almost 4 am now haha) I saw Les Misérables at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. Oh my goodness was it amazing. I am seriously trying to contain my excitement without using all caps. It was that good. Not that I expected any differently, it being Les Mis. And this is now the second time I have seen it performed professionally (I also saw it done as a high school production), the first time being roughly a year ago at the Ahmanson Theatr
...I am always right? Katie being Ezorov. Good to know. Anyway, last night I saw a high school production of Wizard of Oz: Closing night, too, which is always fun. My brother and sister used to perform in plays years ago run by Biola Youth Theatre (where I saw the play), so it was fun going there again. Next year they're performing Guys and Dolls, which I think I may just have to see. But man, seeing a play makes me even more excited for today...Les Mis!! ~ Velox
Oh man am I so excited. Last Sunday I bought tickets to see The Dark Knight Rises opening day in IMAX. Which is going to be amazing. Today I bought tickets to go see Les Miserables which is being performed at a theatre near my house (seeing it this Sunday)...I really, really wanted to see the play again before the movie comes out, so I'm very glad I'll be able to. This will be the second time I've seen it done professionally (I also saw it twice performed at a high school) in person (as I also h

A Monster Calls, by Patrick Ness is honestly one of the best books I have ever read. Illustrated by Jim Kay, this book tells the story of a thirteen-year-old boy named Conor who wakes up at seven minutes past midnight to find a monster outside his bedroom window. For a long time he has been having nightmares almost nightly, but this isn't the monster from those nightmares -- this monster is different and wants something from Conor: the truth. Filled with emotion, characterization, and great writ
~ :: :: ~ Fortnightly Challenge #2 Your Challenge: A New Beginning . . . and Another . . . and Another . . . "Everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was." - Pope John Paul II The question before me in preparing today's challenge was this: Where do I start? You already started, you might say, but that was an unusual case. I have so many ideas for more consistent And then it occurred to me. This question is a question we all face on a daily basis. Every journe
Preparation I typed away furiously at the black keyboard before me. I glanced at the clock on my computer screen. One-hundred words to go, nine minutes left to enter. I focused on the task at hand, pushing all other thoughts aside and only caring about the story in front of me. I continued to type, my stream of consciousness flowing straight from my mind to the keys and subsequently onto the computer. ..........There, I said to myself, finished. I looked at the clock again. Perfect. Three mi
Day One; Wednesday, May 30th -- The last day of school and finals. I didn't do very well on my math or physics finals, but I ended both with a B so I was happy. After school we had graduation practice, and then everyone went home. Later that night was the Senior Barbeque, where it was a BBQ at school for just seniors and faculty where we all hung out and mostly signed year books. So it was really fun being able to talk to people and write in their yearbooks and such. Day Two; Friday, June 1st
Seriously. Janus is one of the coolest people ever, and it was awesome bonding with him today. After meeting him for the first time and talking to him for a long time, he is now definitely one of the people I respect the most. And now, time for bed... ~ Velox
Today is a day of remembrance. Let us remember the fallen who died for honor, for their country. Those men and women who served the US Armed Forces. Those men and woman who had agape love -- the greatest love; a sacrificial love -- for very single person in the United States. The true heroes of the world. Please keep those men and women in your thoughts and prayers throughout the day and every day. ~ Velox
