Things I plan to buy with my first paycheck

So I get my first paycheck from work (I got a job a week ago, BTW) for $500. It's only half a paycheck 'cause I started midway through the pay period, but I've never even had $500 to my name before.   I have a plan all laid out for savings, school funds, car funds, etc. for when the proper paychecks come in, but I've decided to just recklessly blow this one on as much random stuff as possible.   So basically, here's what I hope to have in 4 days:   LEGO: -Sith Infiltrator (newest version) -Clas

So there's this girl...

...at work who I've known for like 2 days. She was/is training me on a certain machine.   Been awhile since I actually liked a girl, and we're getting along pretty well. I can actually talk to her, which is a definite plus. She loves doctor who, lord of the rings, goes on a blogging website, plays pokemon obsessively, dislikes partying, has a group of friends who magically became alcoholics when they turned 18 that she doesn't like going out with (like me), hates mainstream radio music, etc. Oh,

The Afterman: Ascension

I have listened to this album a good six times already, and I am loving it. I don't know if I like it more than No World For Tomorrow, but it destroys Year Of The Black Rainbow brutally.   Unfortunately the hard copy's not available here yet, but no matter.   Also, just calling it now, Descension's gonna' be the better half. I just have a feeling.

Pink Floyd

Yes I know I'm totally late to the party   but this band is awesome.   I finally got a round to getting their discography after being a casual fan of the hit songs, and I am loving them. So far I've listened through Meddle, Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell, and I am currently listening through The Final Cut.   As it stands, Wish You Were Here and The Division Bell are my favourites, but all have been fantastic.   And as

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

On vinyl. B)   Bit not worth it maybe, $22 for a beat-up copy, that's pretty scratched... but it was a gift for my dad, and now I get to listen to it whenever.

The Story Of Cygnus X-1

As written by Neil Peart of Rush through the course of 2 songs, totalling near a half hour in length:   BOOK I: >Flying ship around space >hey a black hole >let's fly into it >oh carp   BOOK II: >Completely unrelated people on a planet >Apollo gives them science and fire >Dionysus gives them love >people fight over science/love >gods fight over science/love >spaceship guy appears in god-realm >screams >becomes Cygnus, god of balance   The End.

Some Faith In Humanity Has Been Restored!

So I went to one of the local record stores (the one with high prices) to pick up Asia's third album, Astra, that I had on hold. The owner of the store was there, and he recognised me from the other day when I asked if he had any Emerson, Lake & Palmer. He asked me if I had found any, so I said I did, but one that I had wanted was really scratched. He looked it over, and said I could take it for free.   Even better, he said that he'd replace it with a good copy as soon as one became availabl

Bigger Vinyl Collection

Well, I've been growing my collection from 6 albums to 24 (one is still in the mail and not in the picture):   Awesomeness   I'm pretty happy with how it's going, but I'd like to hopefully find some Metallica or Megadeth somewhere. And more rush. Always more Rush.   Speaking of which...   All my Rush albums!   Anyway yeah, ciao.

What gets me down sometimes.

"And as I slowly drift to sleep for a moment dreams are sacred I close my eyes and know there's peace in a world so filled with hatred Then I wake up each morning and turn on the news to find we've got so far to go..."   -Show Me The Way by Styx.

Ebay Stress

I'm currently watching a lot of four Rush albums on vinyl, which are at $9.99 so far with $14 shipping. I'm really hoping I can snag this without it going too much over its current price...

Anyone up for a good Rush chat?

Just got 4 new albums from them, bringing my collection to 13 Rush CDs. So I'm kinda' In The Mood to discuss them, but seeing as my prog rock topic died...   I must turn to my blog.

New Rig

My dad took me to a second hand store to show me a turntable they had for sale, but we found an entire Toshiba stereo setup, with radio, record, and cassette players. Then we found awesome 75 watt speakers and a 5-CD changer to hook up to it, and I now have an amazing, ~$1500 stereo system (at least that's how much it would've been in, say, the 70's). As it is, it cost him $200 which I have to pay back come september when I get a job. (Also the blue one is my old one; nicer looking but this new

New Coheed Album

That's right, just got an email from the Coheed And Cambria website officially announcing the first part of their upcoming double album, The Afterman. Volume one will be released in October, while volume two will come in February.   For some reason, I've got a feeling these are going to be way better than their last album.

Just as I thought it was going alright...

I find out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all I could say day, you'd say night Tell me it's black when I know that it's white It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

Some Internet Orders

I finally managed to acquire a tad bit of money, so I went and bought a CD copy of Yes' "Fragile" with two bonus songs on it. I already had it on vinyl, but it was scratched and I really love the "America" bonus track. Plus it was just sitting there at walmart and I had to get it... it spoke to me.   Anyway, I had some money left over and nothing in town to buy, so I turned to the internet. I managed to find Rush's "Hemispheres" on amazon for $2, which was awesome, as well as a motherload of mas

Water, Water, Everywhere... hey look a car

We just had the most amazing thunderstorm I've ever experienced, with literal house-shaking thunder. Was intense and amazing. Turns out downtown's flooded and cars are floating around, plus my mom took some pics of the manholes-turned-geysers along the streets.   Our house is totally unaffected, thankfully. My mom's not looking forward to all the property damage claims she'll have to deal with at work tomorrow, though.

Graduation (A Bit Late)

Well, I graduated this weekend. it's not "official" because my math class isn't quite done, but the ceremonies were all happening.   On friday night we had the cap and gown ceremony, where we all wear blue dresses and square grad hats that are super uncomfortable but look pretty funny and cool. Anyway, we waited around for a long time in alphabetical order "backstage" until we were filed out into chairs in the middle of the arena. After some really horribly phony and dull speeches (aside from ou

Grad 2012

Well, I graduate high school in a mere 2 weeks. The ceremonies are this weekend. Me and my friends decided to do this a long time ago, but only now did it - our grad prank. The rest of the grad class has already done theirs (some great stuff, too), but we wanted our own.   A car...   We painted it saying GRAD 2012 and gave it racing stripes and smily faces and stuff; ripped the engine, doors and seats out aswell.   In the courtyard of our school.   We chained it to the manhole cover so nobody ca

The Lost Hobby

Most people seem to have forgotten the once-popular time-wasting activity of plastic model kit construction. My dad used to build them constantly back in the day, and he passed on the hobby to me over the years. I'e been doing it since I was 5, but obviously not with good results.   I mostly like to do various spacecraft (usually from Star Trek), but I've also got some planes and cars done/waiting to be started. Just felt like having an entry dedicated to it, and to put some of my work on here;

First Game I've Ever Beaten

Well, I beat Mass Effect 2. Took 30 hours. I failed Thane's loyalty mission (and was too stupid to reload and do it again) and got half my crew (Kelly, Gabby, Rupert...) killed. But hey, I beat it nonetheless!   I also got my sister hooked on it (she's in love with Garrus completely) aswell, and I've now started a second playthrough with my same Shepard on normal instead of casual to pass the time while I wait for the first game to arrive in the mail. Didn't bring my Space Hamster to the second

Mass Effect 2 (Not 3 Omg)

My friends (Nif and Takal mostly) have been bugging me, a complete non-gamer, to play the Mass Effect series because they thought the story-driven gameplay would appeal to me more than the mindless shooting that is Halo and CoD (I seriously hate those games).   Anyway, my friend recently moved in with me, and he brought a bunch of Xbox games with him, one of which was Mass Effect 2. Seeing as I've been stuck on Assassin's Creed for months, I figured I'd try something new. After the first ten min

The Avengers

So I went to the late showing for this movie last night, hoping it to be great. I mean, anything with Downey in it has to be amazing, right?   Right indeed. The Avengers was one of the best movies I've seen since the new Star Trek. The comedy was delivered at exactly the right times, all the actors were perfectly in character, and pretty much nothing was overdone. I was never a fan of The Hulk or Captain America, but this movie made me love both and want to watch their respective movies. And Lok
