I screwed up

My curiosity got the best of me and my I may have damaged my computer's CPU.   Don't ask. I don't even remember what string of thoughts got me there in the first place.

A question for someone who's good with computer type stuff.

Ok. So my copy of Heartgold has ceased to function. It says the save data can't be accessed. Anyone got any ideas?   I've got the thing open. I'm aware that that isn't recommended, but I figured, since Nintendo customer service said that getting it fixed/replaced is the same price as a new copy, and there's no guarantee they can fix it, the worst case scenario is that it continues to not work. best case scenario, I can get it working long enough to grab any pokemon I want off of it.   So, Anyon

House sitting

I got a house sitting job over the weekend.   Their house was robbed not too long ago, so they had an alarm system put in. It goes off whenever a door is opened while it's active.   My house has no such system.   Do you see where this is going? Because I didn't.   I swear I almost gave myself a heart attack. Luckily I was able to shut it off quickly and call them so that they knew that nobody was trying to break into the house.   So that was fun.

Pokemon Omega Ruby

Alternate title: I need a life.   I'm getting ready to challenge the Elite Four and I find myself asking: do I want to beat the Elite Four, or do I want to absolutely smash them with the sheer force of six legendaries that I can pick out of my two boxes worth of them. Hmm. Tough choice.   But yeah last time I checked I had logged a solid 11 hours.   Edit: Currently I'm at 13:30, actually. Also I had to chuck an expensive 21 ultra balls at one of those things from Diamond and pearl. So that was a

Hold up

So. From an article I read Nintendo won't be releasing DLC because people will complain that they didn't pay for a complete experience.   So the solution is to lock away the only DLC charecter mentioned by putting it behind the pretty massive Paywall of another game.   But at least nobody can say they didn't get a complete game. Because I can't pay for the extra content. That's apperantly better. I guess.   Nice.   Hopefully this is just a flurry of misinformation and Nintendo isn't that bad at

NaNoWriMo

I just hit 5,000 word.   Yeah.   I didn't expect much but I sisn't think it would be going this slow. Ugh. Maybe I'll hit 10,000? I suppose that would be something.   If I do this next year I'll need more planning. At least an outline. I thought once I got to a place that gave me more freedom I'd have an easier time but I just can't seem to move forward to the stuff that I really want to write.

On "Next-Gen"

(Before we get started, this is directed at the general attitude toward old-gen consoles on most gaming sites. Nothing to do with anyone here.)   Every time I see that a cross-gen game has been delayed/cancelled on an older console I can immediately tell you what the comment section looks like.   If you haven't seen one of these articles, the comments basically say that if you don't upgrade you are everything that's wrong with gaming and why everyone can't have nice things. Because we won't get

What.

Apparently Netflix is having a The Series of Unfortunate Events series made.   I don't know whether to get excited or really ticked off. Is it to early for the second one?

On bike riding

if you fill up your bike tire right after riding it the previous day, don't be shocked when it completely deflates three miles into your 15 mile route.   Though to be fair it was five in the morning and nobody thinks clearly that early in the morning. Nobody. Excuse me while I figure out why it was flat.

Day one of NaNoWriMo

Currently I'm at 446 words. Yeah. This is going to be interesting. Well, if I can crank out 2,000 words about something I care nothing about for a class assignment, surely I should have less of an issue writing something I do care about, right? We'll see I suppose.   So anyway, I'm going to be writing a story called "Forces of Nature". Or at least that's what I'm calling it for now.   I don't really have a synopsis or anything written out right now, though I have a basic plot framework worked ou

EVOLVE Alpha For XCOM Players

So apparently if you have XCOM (I'm guessing enemy unknown since that's what I have.)you get access to the EVOLVE alpha. So that's something.   Which is why it claims I have purchased it which I have not. I would have remembered that.   I guess now we can se how truly underpowered my computer is.

NaNowrimo

So it's been brought to my attention, that Nanowrimo is almost upon us once again. So at around this point I usually consider participating through the first half of the month and then figure it's to late by that point so I don't bother...   Maybe I should change that...   I mean, realistically speaking I probably won't and if I do It won't be entered into anything, as I'd probably be brushing the dust off a project I've been meaning to do since I don't even remember when. And I think that doe

Oh Destiny...

I want to like you, I do. But you make some really stupid design choices.   Look, if your going to give me an item to wear that vacuums up all my rep into one clan's reputation, you should make so that it uses the currency given out by all but one activity. And then not limit that for some arbitrary reason that doesn't make sense, especially when your telling me I need to climb levels as fast as possible to be able to partake in the one piece of new content you give me after completing the story

I'm bad at social things

So once a week I take the bus to my college for class. up until this point I've pretty much kept to myself. This probably doesn't surprise anyone who knows me. As it's rather obvious. But on my way to class There was a guy playing smash bros on a 3DS. I wanted to say something, maybe get a battle going. But instead I broke mine out and hoped he would notice. He did, and he proceeded to destroy me in the game, no surprise there. But it was fun.   So after that I'm wondering why I didn't just say

Smash

I'm enjoying this game far too much. I just got through running the ten man brawl with every character. (Meaning I've actually played every character now.) But for some reason I'm having a lot of trouble with All-Star mode. I've only beaten it twice and I keep royally screwing up for stupid reasons.   And I really like the Mii fighters. They're a lot of fun to mess around with. So far I've made Korra(Brawler), Myself(Swordfighter, obviously), and a full team of characters from a book I swear I'l

The thing I don't get about Half-Life

You have a suit. This suit can do many things. This suit can heal you from poison, absorb damage, allow you to sprint, and presumably protect you from at least some radiation, as well as detecting it. Not to mention it can absorb energy from enemy chargers.   But that nifty flashlight? Yeah, you've got thirty seconds of that thing. I'd say sprint while you can see, but that'll just eat the energy faster.   And then, to compensate, in episode one, you occasionally run across these little flares

How not to design a bus payment system

So, my bus card is out of funds, meaning I have one more ride until I have to reload it. This shouldn't be a monumentally frustrating task, but due to the title of the entry you're probably guessing that it is.   You are correct.   Okay, so to start with, there's are three options for reloading a card. One is logging into an account that the card is attached to, the second one is attaching it to an account, and the third is via the number on the card. (I'm assuming the theory behind the last on

This company is the freaking greatest

Fascinations has now helped me complete two of their steel model kits with their excellent customer service.   Now if only I could find a way to make whatever floor I have a table over stop devouring the small metal pieces. Thankfully I usually have just enough extras to complete the kit.   Maybe I need to disassemble one of those old speakers for the magnet...
