YouTube music copyright research

So today I went to go browse the YouTube copyright regulations for music, because I have interest in developing some video productions for said place.   For most of what I had in mind, I wanted to use my own music (kinda lame - don't ask), or just some free sound effects. But I also had interest in doing some music videos with amazingly awesome catchy tunes. And I would offer the latter for free - no monetization where I would make a bunch of kickback from YouTube's ad system.   I got a bunch of

Who wants MoUP 3?

For reference: MoUP |MoUP 2 ; Related: Bionicle Speed Racers   If you don't care to read all of that, these are games that involve RNGs, Macguffins, and killing people. Apparently people like that enough to derail an otherwise perfectly good blog entry.   I have no idea how I will do a MoUP 3.   There is no way I will be able to run this before January 1st. It may suck because I may have to go in for a bunch of jury duty over my otherwise large interim break. I have at least two other projects t

What they don't tell you at college orientation & how you might survive it

So some of the resident BZPower members may be graduating high school, or already did like two days ago. Welcome to college. Here is some idiotic advice from some random person on the internet. Every person and college is different, so take the following diatribe with some salt. But this is an attempt to clarify the facts about college so you know what you're getting into.   1. College is ######. Don't listen to the random college student who tells you that college is a party. It isn't. If yo

TTTTL/TTTTO

I wrote this blog entry awhile ago and batted it around for some reason in debate over posting it. Mostly because I couldn't tell whether this quote is related to the actual entry or not:   I have concluded that it is only somewhat related, but hey. Free donuts. * * *   Also known as Truth Truth Truth Truth Lie or Truth Truth Truth Truth Opinion.   It's one of the most common fallacies out there. It's also the oldest trick in the book to deceive people. The problem I've noticed is that peopl

Today's haul

Finally got Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder. I have no idea when I'm actually going to be able to build it (or read the book), but I'm pretty sure I'll have time over the winter break.   I now need to preorder the next Bionicle book...

This week

Question: So, why so stubborn this week, fishers?   Me: I don't know.   Question: That's not an acceptable answer. Why are you stubborn?   Me: Because people are attacking things that I care about.   Question: Isn't that kinda old news?   Me: Uh, no.   Question: Is an RPG really something to be stubborn about?   Me: Yes.   *excited animated whispering from the audience*   Question: Is *insert illegal debate topic here* something to be stubborn about?   Me: Heck yes.   Question: So is that

Thinking really IS bad for you?

http://news.health.com/2014/07/07/many-dont-want-to-be-alone-with-their-thoughts/ Who are these people? For some reason, I find the last sentence to be erroneous. Should I just chalk this up to me being weird or something?   Because I actively enjoy being alone with my thoughts and turning them around in my head. Sometimes having a pen and paper in my hands helps...but "difficult to summon at will"? In certain situations, I've spent days just turning thoughts over, and often I feel pressured to

Theorize about me (AMA-style thing)

This game involves writing statements that you think are true of me, and I give you responses. So, for example:   fishers64 likes the color purple.   My Response: True.   fishers64 dreams of farm animals.   My Response: Unknown. I don't remember most of my dreams.   fishers64 likes liver-and-anchovy pizza.   My Response: False.   Go!

The Zombified Hype Train

Go play!     Go read!   And remember kids, never give up on your dreams. Even if your dreams are as stupid as hosting a HF RPG and posting a story on a discussion forum.   I already do have better life goals, but not giving up on even the smallest ones is how I do life.

The metaphor

The old professor of logic and reasoning walks into his classroom. It is late, and the students are assembled, waiting for class to begin. The bell rings, and the lecture begins.   [insert bones quote here] He drones on for a long time, writing on the old chalkboard in front of him. Time and time again he has done this.   "But this isn't so." one student says, raising an objection. Ah yes, but the old professor knows the student's problem. He must address this problem the student has, or he woul

The "Four Characters" Trope

For this, there are four characters and two genders; two characters must be male, and the other two must be female.   1. Logician - This character uses analytic and strategic thinking. They are typically hardened and veteran fighters, and suppress whatever emotions they need to at any given moment. Tend to be socially reserved, and if they do talk, are focused on what they need to accomplish with their words. They usually manage to cover any true emotional stakes they have with thoughts of how t

Teddy Bear Factory

I found this one going through an old flash drive of mine. I still find this one funny...and insane. Too much HF on the brain.   --------------------------------------------------------   “Teddy Bear Hotline – please state the nature of your crisis.”   This is the Teddy Bear Factory, where the best Teddy Bears in the galaxy are built. Customized with the latest charm and technology, no matter where it takes them.   When 500 wretched villains strike, the galaxy’s most powerful force against evil

Talking to myself is boring.

You guys really should check out tth4   Reasons: 1. No more RTE, the whole thing is beautiful BBCode 2. 100-post blogging subforums. Seriously, I paid $40 for this blog, kids, and it ain't a subforum 3. Bionicle Story forum that hopefully will be free of: Canonization wars, bones posts, Greg quote slinging about, G1 connection theories (just kidding I love those ) 4. And you aren't this one person in like 50,000. That means your stuff actually gets seen. 5. And you can type quick thoughts on th

Sword Art Online and General Anime Complaints

First off, big disclaimer:   The following blog post is not intended to be offensive to anyone who likes anime. The author of this blog post understands that she is not qualified to make an informed and reasoned judgement about the entire genre thereof, and therefore anything below is not intended to bash, make fun of, or otherwise deride any beings who may enjoy the genre.   Whew.   So recently, I decided to try out the anime series Sword Art Online, on the recommendation of bonesiii. Strange Music For Tonight

I can post this song on BZPower?   I can post this song on BZPower.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAyb3JROpqU   This isn't directed at anyone on here or BZPower in general. I got the idea after reading DV's entry on his move back to Portland, and thinking about California as the "It" in the song's title. In my insane mind it fits.   That aside, this song has reflected what goes though my head in dealing with nasty people sometimes that just are itching to drag me down. Thankfully I have fe

Spinning Out in Color

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yr5ozlQyUA&list=WL&index=3   I'm 17 orange again! Wheeeee!   (Also, that is probably my favorite song by the Fold as of yet.)   (And this is basically a head-off of all of that "Congrats on the orange!" nonsense. I was there, then I was not, and now I'm back, and should have never left.)
