Of the word "logic"

The common misconception is that logic tells truth from error. That it is the study of things that lead to it. This is incorrect.   Now, if I had thought about this a little more, it would have been evident, simply because we use logic to describe how stories should go - they should be logically consistent with themselves. For example, X character is this way, therefore he would do this in this situation. This is especially apparent with the Arena Method, but it is true of all forms of writing -

Character Epic: Teaser! Wheeeee! Poll!

The following is a teaser for the epic mentioned in this blog entry:     Vakama was sitting by the Sacred Fire in his room in New Atero when a white and menacing figure broke down the door with a large crash. The Turaga of Fire immediately activated his mask of concealment and jumped down to the floor as a burst of light fired over his head.   He scrambled around the fire to the other side of the room, hoping to stay out of view, only for a burst of light by the door to reveal his shadow slant

No, you just don't understand.

G2 has ruined everything characteristic to Bionicle. Back in 2001, there are two things that every fan loved about G1 - that romance was banned and that there was no time travel. This is one of the most important things that drew every new fan in.   Now, G2 Bionicle has thrown that key to Bionicle's success out the window, by including romance and time travel in their most popular franchise. That saved Lego from financial collapse. That franchise is called Ninjago.   Evergreen theme?! I tell y

Spinning Out in Color

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yr5ozlQyUA&list=WL&index=3   I'm 17 orange again! Wheeeee!   (Also, that is probably my favorite song by the Fold as of yet.)   (And this is basically a head-off of all of that "Congrats on the orange!" nonsense. I was there, then I was not, and now I'm back, and should have never left.)

Strange Music For Tonight

I can post this song on BZPower?   I can post this song on BZPower.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAyb3JROpqU   This isn't directed at anyone on here or BZPower in general. I got the idea after reading DV's entry on his move back to Portland, and thinking about California as the "It" in the song's title. In my insane mind it fits.   That aside, this song has reflected what goes though my head in dealing with nasty people sometimes that just are itching to drag me down. Thankfully I have fe

Coming this Monday!

The next MoUP-style game is on going on the road Monday, September 21st!   For real this time. *glares at self for not following through last time*   ------------------------------------------------------   Next priority is this epic. and my writings for Distortion, which have already began to take shape.   Then I have Categorical GregF Reference to do.   And then...new secrets have yet to be revealed.

"Crashed" by Daughtry

In 2007, when I heard the Toa Mahri mini-movie, I misheard the lyrics to Crashed as "compressed in the earth, going up in flames", and I thought the singer was talking about that devil's homeland, like after his own death.   And I thought that it was referring to the hardships the Toa Mahri were facing underwater (perhaps a little ironic?) and Mata Nui's death, in an utterly nasty way. In my opinion, that made the song the worst from Bionicle.   In 2011 or so, I realized that the song didn't h

Quick Skull Scorpio Review

No, actually we are talking about this guy:     I actually was quite surprised at how big the legs were - and frankly, how big this set is in general - I thought it was really small.   Lots of Technic here, as expected, and lots of recolored and new parts, which I was not. I also cannot get enough of the CCBS double sockets, and there is one here in the tail assembly. I also am a fan of the re-colored inner claws and the pneumatic tube thingys. As a parts pack, I'd buy like 5 if I had the mon

Earbud Advice?

About three years ago I bought a pair of urBeats while I was in college, selling off the iPad my college gave me to get them. It was actually, in view of what happened later, one of my better decisions. They were expensive, though, and cost over $100.   These days, they don't hold volume - the volume will randomly go up and down when I use them, and so I have to correct the slider. This problem seems localized to the left earbud - the right one always plays at a lower volume than the left one,

YouTube music copyright research

So today I went to go browse the YouTube copyright regulations for music, because I have interest in developing some video productions for said place.   For most of what I had in mind, I wanted to use my own music (kinda lame - don't ask), or just some free sound effects. But I also had interest in doing some music videos with amazingly awesome catchy tunes. And I would offer the latter for free - no monetization where I would make a bunch of kickback from YouTube's ad system.   I got a bunch of

HF RPG Profiles

Heroes -   Player: Dark_Stranger   NAME: Artemus Schadenfreude [Hero] POWERS/ABILITIES: Artemus is permanently bonded with a psychic parasite which is fused to his endoskeleton. It is visible as patches of spikey growth on his armor, and as two flexible bladed protrusions that completely replace his right forearm. This parasite feeds on the energy emitted by active pain receptors, both its host's and those of anyone else it inflicts pain upon, using this energy to grow. Thus, it requires regular

The Zombified Hype Train

Go play!     Go read!   And remember kids, never give up on your dreams. Even if your dreams are as stupid as hosting a HF RPG and posting a story on a discussion forum.   I already do have better life goals, but not giving up on even the smallest ones is how I do life.

Characters Call

If you want one of your fanfictional/RPG characters to star in an new epic that I'm writing right now, post their names below. Please link me to any relevant profiles or stories that you wish me to include. You may describe or include anything in your comment than you wish to be included.   Or you can throw a character's name at me with nothing attached and let me fill in the blanks. Making up a character on the spot for no reason to be included is also allowed. Go crazy!   Or if you have no cha

Go Play Pulse's Mafia Game.

That way I can become Barshai again and kill you all!   Or I can not become Barshai and still kill you all anyway!   * * * Okay, that's probably not going to be realistic. I'm actually starting to become the Shawn Bean of Mafia, which is kind of a shame. If this continues much longer I may have to resign - or continue on for no reason other than to perpetuate the joke.

A Brief Note on Projects - Down to the "last two".

Of the projects mentioned in the previous blog entries, Late to the Party and the Categorical GregF Reference yet remain.   The Categorical GregF Reference programming is, in fact, done. I have some bugs to fix, and I have some repetitive legwork that needs to be finished, but the end of the very long tunnel will be with us shortly.   I'm also pleased to announce that Late to the Party is 26 chapters in the blue as of this writing. I originally thought this one to top out at 36; I'm starting t

For some reason, I really like this boat.

http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Ultra-Agents-Ocean-HQ-70173?fromListing=listing   Even though I know that if I brought it, I wouldn't even be able to build it - I would have to leave it in its box until I finally managed to move away from parent-controlled prison.   Even though it cost $100, which I don't have. Which is a reasonable price for a decent boat - in between the Sea Cow and Naida's Epic Adventure ship, but it looks big enough.   But white stud launchers, people. white.   trans-blue panels

A More Typical Day

The following blog entry is not for the squeamish of stomach.   It's 11:00 AM, and I'm trying to keep myself from falling apart.   Poltical Science class is two days old, and there is less than a week left in the class. The instructor is a jerk - I had to email him just to figure out the class room number and that it was starting late, and I wasn't told about the textbook until two days ago, and the college bookstore's price on textbooks is so ridiculously expensive that I always have to go to

July 4th

So this morning, after getting dragged out of bed much later than usual, I got out my math textbook to finish some homework from math that I didn't finish last semester. This was because my mental stimulation quotient was far below normal.   After breakfast, I was informed that my plans to do math that day had just gotten canceled by the higher powers that be (Dad). After reviewing his comprehensive list of options, I elected to take a lesson on how to change oil in our family's car, something I

Of expensive taste.

Last week I went out with my family to an expensive restaurant. And I mean, high-class steakhouse expensive. This was because my great-uncle apparently likes expensive stuff and got us a gift card to an expensive place.   Here's the thing about my family: we don't fit in anywhere. Except maybe on a remote hiking trail or a camping site somewhere. And the thing about those places is that they are sparsely populated.   It's telling that we showed up to said resturant looking like we belonged ther
