Confusing the Teachers

"So, what if, say, I needed to cite a source, but the source may not be published by the due date for this paper?"   "Well... What?"   "If I know what I need to say, can I just turn it in sans citations and add them once the source is published?"   "How do you even know about this source if it's not published?"   "...I wrote it. This paper is a continuation of those papers."   In related news, anybody know how to cite in-press sources in MLA?

Spanish

I have a new teach for Spanish 6, and I'm very optimistic about the class in general. Still, that moment when you realize you've misinterpreted an article entirely halfway through you page-long Spanish analysis of it is devastating.   (It's also hard to work on this and all the other IB assignments while so hyped for Bionicle, Smash, Pokemon remakes, Mario Kart DLC, etc.)

It's a good Pokeday

I finally bred that perfect Torchic that had been evading me for weeks...   and then got a shiny Porygon on Wonder Trade. Trace, 5IV, everything but defense, not hacked. I think that's the second shiny I've received there, the other being a Leavanny, and that looks almost identical to its normal form.

Zelda Kart is actual DLC

I... Was not expecting this. Nintendo UK has honest-to-goodness announced Mario Kart 8 DLC coming out in November. (one comes out in November, the other doesn't come out until March 2015). It's starting to look like the Smash Kart people have always wanted, too. Link and the Villager and Isabelle from Animal Crossing will be among the downloadable characters, and Zelda and Animal Crossing inspired tracks have been promised. Plus an F-Zero inspired kart.   Here's the page, but long story short,

That Painful Feeling

When you have vague recollections of something nostalgic, but don't remember enough about it to pin down what exactly it was or search it out.   I know that as a kid we had a couple of VHS tapes with a particular children's program. It started out live-action, with this man in a cool house and, I believe, some sort of VCR player that looked impressive. This man introduced whatever that episode's classic tale was, and then we saw an animated feature of said tale. I clearly remember Peter Rabbi

Cosmo Destroys OoT Any%

I'm a pretty late in realizing this, but Cosmo Wright, video game speedrunner, has performed a near-optimal run of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, in 18:10.3. He's made a pretty educational and touching video of the gameplay with commentary on speedrunning, the history of speedrunning OoT, explanations of glitches and optimizations, and the like. It's a beautiful watch if you're familiar with speedruns and a very accessible/educational watch if you're not, so I highly recommend it. I

BRICKFAIR

I'm not there, but I will be during the visiting hours tomorrow! If you see someone in glasses, a red backpack, and a blue 2011 BZPower shirt, say hi, because it's probably me. I plan to arrive at least an hour early to try to get near the front of the line... Here's hoping that works out.   I do have some MOCs on display as well. The spinning Superman and Lex Luthor diorama, the Pohatu Phantoka with the single Gorast-wing propeller, and the Toa with the derpy yellow Dupolo piece as his tors

On Layton and Edgeworth

Alright, guys. The Professor Layton and Ace Attorney series had better be as good as everyone keeps saying they are. I was dragged to Kohl's to grab a shirt and had an opportunity to browse Gamestop's used games. They had a buy-2-get-1 sale on DS and Wii games, and I took the opprotunity to grab Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigations. I was going to get a Phoenix Wright game, but an employee advised me th

Hyrule Warriors Just Got Better

Honestly, I probably won't get Hyrule Warriors. Not only is the gameplay style not one I'm super interested in, but there are other Wii U games I would rather spend my money on, and a few of the character designs (read: Shia and the Great Fairy) go a little too far for me. Beyond that, though, Tecmo Koei is making something amazing, and I am very impressed and very excited about the well-constructed, dense bundle of Zelda series goodness that Hyrule Warriors is shaping up to be. Every reveal

Metroid PSA

If you act now, you can trade in Metroid Prime to Amazon for 21 cents! That's right, 21 whole cents! And you thought Gamestop had great trade-in deals!   There's someone working for Amazon, being paid to process 21-cent trade-ins. What a wonderful world.

This Shirt Confuses My Family

In related news, LoZ: The Minish Cap is pretty fantastic. It's probably the cutest and most fun Zelda game of all time. I want to be a mountain Minish when I grow up.

Brickfair

Gaaaah I was two days late to pre-order tickets (to the Saturday public day)!   I am very upset. Anyone know any way of getting some/being sure of getting in? Right now the plan is a very early morning driving over there.

Dear Google

When I search for a college, why on earth do you tell me, even before the address, that it recieved "4.4" out of 6 Google reviews? Has anyone, ever, thought they were going to one college, only to see the Google review number and change their mind? Think, Google.   Google I make fun of you but I love you

Master Quest

We've all played Ocarina of Time, right? At the very least you're familiar with what the game is and the general atmosphere.   Well, I'm playing the Master Quest in OoT 3D, and I'd like to take a moment and ask why on earth there are cows embedded in Jabu-Jabu's flesh.     And it's not just that one. They're everywhere.

Kikwis

I don't think they look cute. They look... disconcerting. Their eyes aren't eyes and their little stick arms look all weird with their big plush bodies. They're my least favorite Zelda species.   I'm sorry, internet.

Gaming/Zelda PSA

SGDQ, a game speedrunning marathon for charity, is happening RIGHT NOW! You can still catch the last day of speedruns and of course the bonus stream afterwards. Check out the constantly updated schedule HERE! Most importantly, there is a three-game Zelda block with A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, and an Ocarina of Time RACE! If that's not you thing, the Zelda block is immediately preceded by a four-game Valve block with both Half Lifes and both Portals, and the planned stream will
