Looks Like There's A New Rule In The Library...

Needless to say I disagree, for a variety of reasons, but seeing as it comes from the administration I get the strangest feeling it's not going to change anyway.   Just in general, I've always been irritated by how people who aren't doing anything wrong are forced to accommodate the loud, closed-minded complainers and proselytizers who can't mind their own business or accept that others can think differently from themselves. Rules against foul language and mature content I can understand, but h

I hate to offend any history buffs out there, but quite frankly, I cannot stand it.

On Weather

IT. IS. FREEZING. TODAY.   I mean, it definitely gets colder in winter and fall, but for SUMMER... and I haven't a clue how to turn on the heating! It's been raining and overcast for days, and I AM FREEZING. Yesterday was still warm enough to wear shorts, but dang it got cold today.   I'm SHIVERING. That's not RIGHT for summer. It's like FIFTY degrees out. Gah.   Also, LZ introduced me to a game called Cave Story. Quite a while ago, in fact. I'm now addicted to it. I've beat it on easy, and n

Schizophrenics Unite!

I have no idea if I spelled that correctly.   I just gotta make note of one of the oddest occurences that I've seen at least more than once here on BZP.   Say, a member called "BZP Person1" starts an art topic.   First post: BZP Person1 Hey, this is my drawing. [[image]]   Second post: BZP Person1 Wow, awesome drawing man!     Is this siblings sharing the same account or does this person honestly think he or she can fool someone into thinking the first person to post in their t

Also On The Equator...

WHAT IF... there was a fence going around the Equator? Who would be inside the fence, and who would be outside the fence?   Or better. Let's say there's an imaginary planet with this fence around its Equator, and the fence is built so that it lies PERFECTLY on one plane, right on the middle line of that planet, with EXACTLY the same amount of atoms on both the North and the South sides of that plane. The north pole is EXACTLY as far from the fence as the south pole is. The North population is e

First Day Of School

Cue Finding Nemo reference.   Today was my first day of Junior year, which was nice, but also my sister's first day of Kindergarten, and she's going to actual SCHOOL now! Never again shall she attend that daycare. She's in real SCHOOL! Wow.   She's rather shy though... gonna have to get her to speak up more, make new friends and such!   My teachers seem okay this year.   I've also beat Cave Story three times now, working on my time. First time I beat it in 15-some minutes, second time over 1

*sigh*

Somebody on our bus smokes. It's the most annoying thing. Well, for starters, it's ILLEGAL, and it's just... ugh.   I mean, it's disgusting. EVERYONE on the bus smells it, and it's obvious, and... geez...   I'm one of those people who's absurdly paranoid about secondhand smoke, too. I hold my breath when I walk past people smoking outside stores. And it really sucks when it's freezing outside but we have to open all the windows on the bus to vent out the smoke.   I just hate people like that.

Ceci N'est Pas Une Blog Entry

Ceci n'est pas une self-referencing sentence. Ceci n'est pas une two-sentence paragraph.   Ceci n'est pas une allusion to "The Treachery of Images" by René Magritte.   Ceci n'est pas Sparta.   (ceci n'est pas une signoff)

More Morbid Physics

I quote:   Two unfortunate frozen, cubical mountain climbers connected by a rope find themselves sliding over an icy (frictionless) precipice as indicated in Figure P.38. Rather than help them, solve the following problems:   Figure P.38 seriously depicts the scene, complete with freakish, screaming people frozen inside cubical blocks of ice, one of whom is hanging over a 30 degree icy slope and weighs 60.0 kg.   Would it be THAT hard to just have said "two industrial blocks of ice"!?   I se

Half An Hour

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is sitting on my dorm room bed right now.   I haven't even been able to muster the concentration to realize the sheer magnitude of this event in popular literature. I'm far too sleepy. I'm sure tomorrow I'll wake up fully refreshed and say to myself: "OH MY GOsh I OWN THE SEVENTH HARRY POTTER BOOK." Right now my brain is just sorta buzzing "cool..."   I'm not even yawning or anything... it's a really weird feeling, but I can't describe it right now because

2010

First off, happy February 1st. Well ain't it great that I remembered it's a new month?   Secondly, it's 2007. No duh. In 3 years it will be 2010. Aren't you all glad that I know my addition?   My point is, when it comes to 2010, will you say "twenty-ten" or "two-thousand-and-ten" (or "two-thousand-ten")?   On a completely unrelated note, I got to use three different punctuation marks in a row! That is, " ")? ". Which makes it five. Yay. I reached six before...   Anyway, yeah. That was the po

Augh Augh Augh Augh Augh

AUGH.   I hate this time of year.   ...   That is to say, not the time of year that schools ending. I'm all for school ending. It's what school ending ENTAILS...   Such as FINALS. FINALS. AUGH! Finaaaaaals ngggggggh.   I was spared most of them last year-- a lot of my classes didn't HAVE finals, and one of them we did before the scheduled final days. Latin, I got a gold on the NLE so I didn't have to take it. Gym, obviously no final.   But THIS year...   First block: A-day: History B-day:

Placenta

So the other day (April 1st in fact, I suggested my teacher go up on stage and say, "Well, I'm sorry, but we've lost all the certificates and medals...") was the Latin Honor Society induction ceremony, and as an existing member I had to be there to welcome the new members and receive my fancy pin for second year members (yayz).   And afterwards we had refreshments and aside from cookies and brownies and soda they had a huge placenta! I mean it was massive, covered in icing, and had Carpe Diem w

I Hate Mondays

Just about everyone hates Mondays, right?   Have you ever felt that some Mondays just go out of their way to make you feel even worse?   First thing I heard when I woke up was rain. Torrential rain. You can imagine how the rest of my day went. >m<   So after eating breakfast I put on my jacket and grabbed my umbrella and went outside. The puddles were, I swear, two inches deep in places, and not easy to avoid either, and all the umbrella did was channel the water that would have fallen

Odd Tastes...

My sister is weird. She's four, starting the prime of her kidhood.   So how can there be so many things that kids ought rightly like that she doesn't?   She doesn't like the crunchy parts. Like on fried chicken, she'll only have the meat. Same thing for the Costco rotisserie chicken we buy now and then. The skin has the most flavor!   Even worse, get this: Butterscotch. It's, what, caramelized sugar and butter? It's amazing! How can she NOT like butterscotch?   And I understand tolerance for

15 + 19 = 36

According to my Math II SAT II study book, 15 + 19 = 36.   WHAT!?   I think their editor DIED midway through working on the book. So many of the problems are so screwed up...   Like the one where they use the 30-60-90 right triangle pattern. Okay, fine. HOWEVER THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE 30 DEGREE ANGLE CANNOT BE LARGER THAN THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE 60 DEGREE ANGLE! Yeesh! Side opposite the 30 degree angle is a and the side opposite the 60 degree angle is a root three, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.   An

Am I The Only One Surprised By This?

I learned today that the song "Happy Birthday To You" is technically copyrighted in the United States until 2030. Which is why you never hear it on TV or in movies, only variations or songs like "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."   Am I the only one who didn't know this until now? o_O

Valentine's Day...

So, Valentine's Day.   What does that have to do with a martyr dying?   I mean, I understand the history of the holiday, after Claudius put Valentine to death some guy was like "I will be as devoted to you as Valentine was to God" or something along those lines, and poof, we get St. Valentine's Day.   But honestly, Hallmark (the term essentially standing place for all holiday-oriented companies of the like) just took it and ran with it. Where did all those poofy red hearts come from? And Cupi

Quick Question, Curiosity

(note: the above character isn't Lyg)   Can anyone tell what gender the above character is supposed to be (larger version of the pic in my av)? Completely unrelated to any persona I have on BZP, I just think I have a bit of trouble with gender distinctions when I'm drawing cats and I want to make it clear.

Somebody Bring Me Up To Date!

As of the end of the year 2008 in the Bionicle storyline:   -Who's alive and who's dead (and, if you can spare the time, briefly how they died) and who's likely to be dying sometime soon? -Who are the big players and what do they intend? -Where do we stand in general?   Not asking for an essay. Just want to be up to speed.

You Have Got To Be Kidding Me

"Rub N Color"   WHAAAAT!? No no no no NO! THE POINT OF COLORING IN PICTURES IS TO PICK YOUR OWN COLORS AND COLOR IT YOUR OWN WAY! I MEAN, WHAT IN THE-- THAT COMPLETELY-- AUGH!   Anybody seen those commercials for this "Rub N Color" thing? Just rub, and color! No mess! Rub your finger on these PRE-COLORED images and whatever color the company put in MAGICALLY APPEARS!   That RUINS the whole POINT of coloring! Not only is coloring one of those activities that help kids develop coordination and
