Tiring day. Two essay tests, one of which I had to go back and finish during break, which meant that, because of a class meeting for Spirit Week after lunch, I had virtually no free time until 9th period. Then after that came Driver's Ed, followed all-too-soon by a very long (temporally) amount of notes for Euro, Bio, and then reading/notes for English.   ...Somehow, Calculus is currently my easiest class. (Whether it will remain so when we finish Precalc review remains to be seen.) Latin is fu

Yes We Can

:: ::    And yes. We. DID.     Ladies and gentlemen, the next President of the United States is Barack Obama. I am -so- happy right now. I only wish I were with someone else in person so I could properly scream in delight and go hug somebody. This is ... truly incredible. I wish I could have voted, still, but I'm so happy just to have witnessed this...   Also, one of my best friends is in Chicago right now in that crowd and will hear Obama speak in person soon. I am completely jealous of her

Yellow And Company

It never fails, I come up with a bunch of things to blog about and then forget all but a few of them when I actually have time to write...   Today's subject of discussion is the yellow Jetrax. I have gripes about it. First off, I love that there's more yellow. That in and of itself is awesome, but I don't really like the distribution it's in – it looks sort of garish to me, too bright. The arrangement doesn't put the yellow in any specific place; it's all over the vehicle, both in the lower lay

Yellow

A thing I noticed some time ago, reenforced dramatically yesterday:   Take all the canister series we've had since yellow-orange replaced brown. Inika, Barraki, Mahri, Phantoka, Mistika, Glatoriana, Glatorian Legends. There is only one color of the six that I have bought out of every series: yellow (or whatever it was at the time).   Hewkii Inika was -iron grey- and had an awesome chain. Carapar just looked cool; the trans-grey and yellow-orange blend was awesome. Hewkii Mahri I got mainly bec

Work In Pictures

Just felt like taking this picture, which I've kind of wanted to for a while.     The rarer masks that I have. I was debating between the infected Hau and the gold Vahi for the seventh slot and eventually chose the Hau just because I felt like the Vahi was slightly more common. Slightly. More opportunities to get it, and in cheaper sets. Plus I have four of them and only one infected Hau... so yeah.   Still on my list are a copper Komau, maybe a yellow Kaukau, and really any of the misprin

Wisdom Teeth

Ow...   As I announced yesterday, I got my wisdom teeth extracted today. All four of them. It hurts.   They gave me this type of anesthesia that left me conscious throughout the whole thing, but with no memory at all – something I'm actually quite thrilled with. One, I don't remember the procedure (just getting fillings is traumatizing enough), and two, I have no memory at all of the "recovery" phase because it was still in effect. Which means that, coupled with a copious and constant supply o

Why

You may have been wondering what it was that spurred Project Nuva to life.   Look at the front page. Now you know.   When I saw the leaked pictures, the first thing I thought upon seeing the lime and orange Toa was that the former looked exactly like Lesovikk (lime chest and head with a distinctly Faxon-like mask – two out of three points of distinction), and the latter like a Toa wearing the Vahi. There's a big problem here when a new set is released that is instantly recognizable as an old c

Who Knew?

Apparently, Six and I are twins when he lets his hair grow out. Or we would be, if he hadn't gotten it cut two days ago...     ToyFair was fun. As was being in New York City again, and hanging out with Andrew (a.k.a. Black Six). We'll get news articles and photos up soon!   Also, fortune cookies. ~ ToM

Whiteout

So titled because that's what the weather's been like at various points today. We've been having one of those annoying April snowstorms. And it was spring just yesterday, too. Hopefully it will be warm and green again next week...   Because then I have Spring Break! At last! Goals include finishing the current chapter of QfLD (unlikely, but if I really try I might make progress!), working on drawings I have going, finishing a short story, and perhaps entering BBC 42.   Other news includes that

White Is In The Winter Night

Finally! I had hoped to make all of these new images about a month ago, but then I kept having a ton of other things to do, and I only got to them yesterday. They aren't very tree-ish, but they'll do. I was going to include some of the frozen trees from Ko-Koro somewhere, but in the end they never looked quite as good as the rest, since the nearly pure white behind them wasn't as dramatic as the blues from other things...   So we'll just have to do with Ko-Wahi until spring gets here. When In Rome ...

I have the most hilarious Latin class ever. And also probably the most quotable one, given our innumerable antics, both verbal and physical. For example:   Reading Hansel and Gretel in Latin (with numerous and hilarious intentional mistranslations): ...clamavit uxor e cubiculo excurrens. Leigh Ann: "...exclaimed the wife, running out of her cubicle."   "Feles mihi annuit!" Leigh Ann: "'My cat is calling to me!'"   Noverca excurrit et domum rediit. Me: "The stepmother ran away and went bac

When In Doubt, Flee To Egypt.

This is amazing: for once I have very little to do.   My history presentation went well, I have no homework in English or Biology, and I did Latin during 9th period, leaving me with only some History, French, and Algebra left to do. Latin itself was also incredibly easy: I just looked at it and understood it aside from a couple words. Whee! (Even if it was synthetic rather than authentic Latin.)   I've also discovered the perfect song for Roodaka in every way and am working on a picture to go

Well That's One Of Them Down

CALCULUS IS OVER. Not until next September do I have to do large quanities of math again. Whoo!   The exam itself wasn't so bad, but there were some annoying free response questions about limits that I had no idea how to do. The with-calculator multiple-choice was really easy, and everything else pretty much the same level of difficulty as we had been reviewing... And since we had been reviewing for a whole month anyway, that wasn't really hard.   And now I get to go and panic about Euro on Fr

Welcome To October

I like this month. Even if I wish September weren't over already, because it means school is slipping by and I don't really want this year to end...   But there's so much about October that I just love. The weather is nice and cool, fall is properly beginning, the trees are magnificent colors... And night is appropriately haunting with the leaves half-fallen and a full moon. It's like the whole month is leading up to Halloween, the feeling one gets exploring at night fits all the mystique of it

We Didn't Die!

No. No we didn't. Thank goodness.   This week was (and still is) Spirit Week for my high school. As usual, each day of the week there's a theme, but each class also has their own theme. Not only does my class work terribly together, but we're also the smallest class in the school. The Juniors have almost twice as many people as us. We were expecting our class skit (based on the theme) to be terrible, and rather certain that we'd come in fourth place as we've been most of the week.   Our theme

Water And Light

Music: Deck the Halls, Mannheim Steamroller Mood: Elated!   I am having an awesome week.   First and best, two days ago I finally broke through my writer's blook on Quest for Lost Dreams! I started revising all the dialogue to properly match the characters' MNOLG personalities, which somehow let ideas flow for the scene I'm currently writing, and so I'll be able to update and post a new chapter in a few days, hopefully!   Second, as I mentioned last entry, I acquired Defilak and Dekar, who a

Warhammer

There we go. As always, you can find more pictures over in the gallery (once that becomes public). There are a few alternates of the entry picture (the far left) using different lighting; I eventually settled on the one I did because I thought it best combined aesthetically pleasing light with clarity of the details of the MOC.   And if I may say so myself, that hammer is one of my favorite things I've ever built. Had a lot of fun with it.   Now, off to enter this on BS01... ~ ToM

Walking On Ice

Everything around here is frozen. It's not freezing rain, it's... frozen rain. It was pretty warm yesterday, about 40º, then there was a downpour last night, which froze during the day today. So now there's just this layer of ice over everything.   And it's really fun. I went out a while ago just to explore my yard, and I had to work hard to keep my balance walking in some of the gently-sloping places, because the grass is frozen into a thin sheet and all the sticks are covered in ice... There'

Visitations

So, over the next week, I'm going to be visiting colleges again. At the end, hopefully it will be easier to decide where I'm going next year.   Tomorrow and Sunday I'm going to Vassar and its glorious library, then Sunday evening and Monday I'll be at Brown. I'm actually having lunch with one of the Classics professors at Brown, who is familiar with my Latin/Greek teacher; that should be extremely interesting. And just seeing the colleges again will be, well, interesting, especially because I'v

Vezon And ... Ninjo

'Nother update today: Most Recent MOC box added, inspired by the block of the same name on Sméag's blog. At the moment, Ninjo Inatu's occupying the space, and since his topic is still alive, I wouldn't mind if someone reviewed him ... *cough*   I also whipped up a sprite of Vezon last night:   Never underestimate the power of inspiration. I built the Staff of Fusion last night (all in silver, not having Vezon & Fenrakk), felt like spriting it, did so, and then made a sprite of Vezon, sin

Valkyries

You know what would be absolutely and totally awesome?   Ride of the Valkyries performed by nine Wagnerian sopranos riding on horseback as they enter the scene. Complete with the bodies (dummies, actors playing dead, whatever) of the heroes they sing that they're bringing to Valhalla, which would be either onstage with the Valkyries who begin the scene onstage, or draped over the horses as the other Valkyries enter.   The coolness of actually having onstage the two things they spend half their

Vacant Bishop Bricks

Oh dear gods, Non Campus Mentis is absolutely the most hilarious thing I've ever read. The only reason I don't laugh aloud continuously while reading it is because I force myself not to, because that would get me even weirder looks than I already do. :3   Some quotes to illustrate just how awesome the thing is: "Around the year 1000 people were afraid that an acropolis was lurking around the corner." (This had me in fits of laughter for literally three minutes straight. I almost choked on my c

Va!

Bwahaha. They are finishèd.     Yes, Kayvee. With a grave accent.   See the topic for the other five! Including Gahlok Va doing yoga, Lehvak Va doing a somersault, Kayvee and Pahrak Va inspecting the camera, and Tahnok Va being abducted. Whee!   In other news, Friday the Thirteenth was a very enjoyable day for me, as always. I finished writing a story about witches, a cat, and a swimming pool that I started last summer. Then I received a very useful Bricklink order, too, including a number

Underwater

The weekend is here, we went sledding during ninth period, snow is swirling in the air outside, and ideas are flowing! There may be midterms next week, but exams don't faze me – and I need a break from studying.   I got a great idea for dragon physiology recently, followed last night by the concept of the Land of the Rising Sun, a distant land to the east of the island-continent where my dragon story takes place. A most entertaining location to ponder, as no one knows what lies beyond the impas
