The annual Halloween redecoration is begun... I may add to it some more, or tweak some of the images, but I'm quite happy with the appearance right now. I had a lot of fun with Photoshop brushes and fonts and subtler effects.
I might even like this more than the normal Le-Wahi. It goes with the feeling I get in October or so, of mystery and magic and darkness and the moon... and of course semi-bare branches are wonderfully eerie, especially with the noise they make in the wind. And i

It sounds like something from the sixties, when said that way.
Redecorations are being worked on.

I like this month. Even if I wish September weren't over already, because it means school is slipping by and I don't really want this year to end...
But there's so much about October that I just love. The weather is nice and cool, fall is properly beginning, the trees are magnificent colors... And night is appropriately haunting with the leaves half-fallen and a full moon. It's like the whole month is leading up to Halloween, the feeling one gets exploring at night fits all the mystique of it
... by real life.
Last week was Spirit Week. As mentioned. That alone kept me busy pretty much every day, during school at least. Throughout the week I was also developing a cold. By some miracle I was able to hold off actually getting sick through my performance as God on Thursday (which went very well indeed), and then through Blue-White Day on Friday (basically an all-school field day). But as soon as I got home Friday afternoon I absolutely crashed, and spent the rest of the day and a lot

Please register to vote and please please please actually do vote in this election. I desperately wish I were old enough, because for once I actually dearly want one of the candidates to win. Not just because he's the Democratic nominee, but because I've listened to both sides speak, read up on the issues and where they stand, and know in no uncertain terms who I want as President.
But I can't vote. So P
This happens annoyingly often; I get caught up doing other things and homework and posting a blog entry gets left until I'm about to go to bed...
In today's case, I spent most of the afternoon at a friend's house with much of the rest of my grade, preparing for our skit on Thursday. And also eating pizza. And four of us went out to Michael's (the store) to get supplies halfway through, which was fun because we did all sorts of crazy stuff. And walked around the store squawking "Streamers!" co
Seriously. In my class's skit for Spirit Week next week, I play the role of God. I get to wear a white suit and a crown and sunglasses and it will be awesome. Those of you who know my last name will understand why this is particularly appropriate for me. :3 Our first goal is to be hilarious; our second is to avoid sacrelige so we don't get points taken off for that...
And helloo again to all of you! I'm back. I have a variety of things to report on and a variety of things to show you all, lik
The question of 'what Grievous?' was asked several times in recent and also not-so-recent entries.
This is the answer.
I must say, it's an odd feeling knowing one's MOC was played with and posed by others before I got to...

I received the package containing my MOCs that went to Brickfair (Viridian, Ellengo, and Grievous) today.
Inside were a bunch of Mardi Gras beads.
(the picture's blurry, but I don't care)
I do not know whose idea these were, but they are absolutely fabulous. I suspect KIE was involved. Just because. But I do not know whether Sméag, DV, Mak, Kohaku, Six, and Rayg were or were not. Even if they weren't, they're still awesome (that refers to the people, but the beads are too).

I had meant to make this entry longer, but time slipped by too quickly. I don't want summer to be over. School will be interesting, and fun, but there's still so much I want to do before going back... But ah well. There's still time to do it, even if not now.
Farewell, good friends, thus summer ends, adieu, adieu, adieu...

In the past two days I have acquired two things that make me very happy.
The first was Takanuva, who I bought at Target yesterday. (Incidentally, while there I fell in love with Rockoh and Gali Mistika. The former is really cool in person, the latter a great set, but still not Gali-like.)
First impressions are that his build is amazing. -Never- have I seen anything so at once intricate and solid and in the end good-looking on a titan set. I seriously enjoyed building him and spent at l

Ahem. Anyway. This is the beginning of my last week of freedom. Summer went by way too fast. I thought I'd have a full month when I got back from travelling, but no, it was only two weeks, and they're almost over... As always, I didn't get half the things done that I wanted to this summer. But I did get done much more than in past years, and that makes me happy. And I spent lots of time with my friends before they went off t
"America has had great parties" ~ Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America
That quote has nothing at all to do with the rest of this entry.
So, apparently I have the Senior Staff title now... I had completely forgotten that was coming up, probably because I still feel like one of the newer STs (STs FOREVER!) for some odd reason. It's sort of weird to think that of the current Support Team (you should know I'm nostalgic by now), only three people have been on it longer than Rayg and me.
This was an idea I came up with yesterday.
What if, for every element, there was one single Toa in the course of Bionicle history whose control of it went above and beyond just the element itself? So the Toa would not merely control his or her element to its fullest extent possible, but could actually affect things that aren't strictly part of it, but are just associated with it? It's hard to explain in abstraction.
I got the idea with the image of a Toa of the Green leading an army of tre

I've been wanting to do this for many years, to build Onua entirely using black pieces (well, except for his eyes), and now I've finally gotten the last gear I needed. He looks quite awesome like this, if I may say so myself.

The one on the left is actually the best picture, though the thumbnail doesn't look it. My camera has trouble focusing sometimes, and that one turned out the best... and there's a whole gallery if you want to explore a little more.

As of yesterday evening, the third chapter of Learn to Fly has been posted. This one stars Krakua, and is much longer than it was supposed to be, but I do hope you'll enjoy it anyway – I enjoyed writing it. This is also what I was raving about in relation to The Houses of Healing, since the song so perfectly fits certain scenes from it...
And there's also still The Iron Ghost, my latest short story, lying around if you feel like reviewing it. I wouldn't mind some more in-depth criticism...

All of my best friends are leaving for college within the next two weeks. (Except one, because Chicago starts way later than everything else.) It makes me very sad, but then I remember that I will keep in touch with all of them, and that we'll get together whenever they come back over breaks, and that makes me happier.
In the mean time I'll send them presents and random stuff periodically. And
I'm in love with this song. It and The Passing of the Elves are now my two favorite songs from all of the Lord of the Rings movies, though Into the West certainly gives them competition.
Are you confused yet? They're from the Complete Recordings editions of the Fellowship of the Ring and Return of the King soundtracks. Things I discovered last winter and immediately looked for The Passing of the Elves on, but I didn't think to look around for The Houses of Healing until just recently.

This has nothing to do with recent occurances.
I started typing this up while on vacation, but since I didn't finish I've just left it as a draft since then – a sort of rambling entry detailing my expectations for 2009 over the years, as we've learned progressively more about it.
In 2006 and early 2007, we knew that '06-'08 was the Mask of Life story arc. I assumed (as I think many did) that the Inika would be the heroes for all three years, ending with the healing of Mata Nui and the deat
I have, at last, entered BBCC 50. :3
To see the entry in full, click above. It's one of my personal favorite MOCs to date, though it looks better in person than in pictures, I think, because you get odd perspectives with a camera.
Fortunately, there will be many people who will see it in person next week. And Ellengo and the poster and one General Grievous.

I'm baaaaack.
Some of the things I've done in the past two weeks: Visited seven different colleges in the New England area and discovered that I would be perfectly happy at just about any of them, so it will be nice having the choice limited by whichever ones accept and deny me. Next April or so will be very interesting, because Katie and Leigh Ann and Sam and Brook will all be trying to persuade me to go to different places if I get accepted to them. Just so everyone knows where I've gone, the second half of my vacation begins today. We're off looking at colleges until Friday, and then meeting some family friends and going to the Berkshires region of Massachusetts to see a variety of theater-things with them and generally enjoy ourselves. Interestingly, the two colleges that most interest me out of this round we're visiting at the very end... One of the plays we're seeing a Shakespeare comedy, and tho
Allow me to declare that listening to The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun by Celtic Woman at exactly the moment the sun comes up is a wonderful experience. I love jetlag going west; you're usually awake by dawn and get to enjoy it in its fullness...
Now, Belgium! It was very relaxing and quite fun. We went shopping for bandes dessinées on various days, walked all over Brussels a few times (both good exercise and fun in and of itself), went to Bruges one day to listen to my mom give a paper... We
I go to pick up the printed poster tomorrow. If you're good, maybe I'll take a picture of the poster itself. Otherwise it shall be revealed properly at the end of August.
