So around this time of year I hear a lot of scrooges trying to dampen the holiday mood by saying something along the lines of "You know, people commit suicide more often around Christmas. It's a shame how people get so stressed out over gifts that they end their lives." Well, no more! Because that is 100% false! I'm bringing this up right now because I've heard this four or five times in the last three days, and it annoys me incredibly. I don't even celebrate Christmas and I love the holiday
So, the Korra ending. That was...a thing. Still not sure how I feel about it. I think I liked it, but right now the whole thing's still just washing over me. I'll get back to you in a day or two.
So I went to do some Hanukkah shopping, and while browsing the toy section, I ran across this guy. He was the only Bionice I could find out, so I tracked down a sales guy and asked if he could tell me if there were others out. As some might recall, I was originally really down on the new sets, so I was hoping there would be some on-display somewhere. That, and Tahu was my first Bionicle, I wanted him more than Lewa. Apparently these aren't supposed to come out until January, and someone put it o
Things college doesn't give you time to do: Write a novel in a month. Things college might give you time to do: Make some headway on trying to make an album or something maybe. Also grow an ugly beard to help raise awareness and show support for colorectal cancer.
Having now actually looked at the reborted Bioniceties, I'll be perfectly honest: I am really disappointed. The masks look less like magical artifacts and more like a cross between an industrial welder's mask and a goalie's facemask, the armor looks less like Lego and more like Megablocks, the hand pieces look even more ridiculous than they did a few years ago(Want some cool Bionicle hands? Look no further than Axonn's giant four-fingered maulers. Otherwise these did just fine without looking
Grammar. Seriously? That's the new topic? Look, I am a grammar snob. I look a word up to make sure I have its spelling right even if I can spell it phonetically close enough to get the meaning across, because I value proper spelling. I go back and edit posts if I forgot an apostrophe or a comma or something. I had perfect 100's in every single english course I took from 7th grade onward, including college. The lowest I've had a paper graded was 93%. I was cheering in my head for every single l
The good: The bad: The ugly: Tonight starts Yom Kippur, a Jewish holiday which involves, amongst other things, fasting, so not only will I be without Smash Bros. until Sunday, I will also be without food or drink until tomorrow evening. But on the bright side, the Orioles stole a win from the Tigers and are a win from the ALCS.
So I've been kinda inactive the past few weeks, and to be perfectly honest a big part of that is that I really struggle to think of many compelling, enjoyable parts of BZP's community anymore, and plenty of things that rub me very much the wrong way, so I might just end up becoming less active in-general on here. But I digress, because I've seen a lot of people posting here about that new video game with Tyrion in it, and I was already planning to post my thoughts on another website's blog, so I
And by god did I make myself look like an jerk and an idiot doing so all those years. I did look like a pretty cool dude though. Kid me is less excited than he thought he'd be, but adult me is surprised how happy he is about the word filter on a website about a lego toyline being changed.
And considering I am spending some of my free time writing a Dragonball-inspired story about Kanye West battling his way across a weastward travel to save the universe from his evil twin by reaching the temple of swagger, its return is probably a very good thing.
When my brother plays Kerbal Space Program, he uses the knowledge he has gained from studying aerospace engineering and actually working for NASA to meticulously create properly-functioning, realistic spacecraft that apply real-world concepts of interplanetary flight. I just toss a dude onto a bunch of fuel tanks, stick the biggest engine I have on the bottom, and hope it doesn't explode. I made my first orbital satellite before he did. Score one for doing science the Soviet way! Also Kerb
And I'm just sitting here thinking about next year because I decided I'd rather wait a year with any conventions I go to so I can A. make plans to go with friends and whatnot, and B. save money so I actually can afford more than just a ticket(Hopefully no sudden expenditures of hundreds of dollars to save my laptop next year to cause problems!). On the bright side, I got some recording work done this weekend while everyone was at the conventions. ...Or would've, but I forgot to set the latency
When I was a little kid building my first kaita, I accidentally broke the two-stud rod that holds the neck piece in place and cried my eyes out. My parents bought me a new Tahu because we could afford to do things like that then. I never built another kaita.
Gotta be honest, I'm probably just going to be in it for the new sets and pieces. I really hope they go back to the old Mata-style days where you had actual unique characteristics to each figure and gear mechanisms and springs and all that cool stuff, instead of just being glorified action figures with different masks and color schemes.
My laptop is fixed, and all is right in the world. Gigantic thank-you to those who bought music to help cover the cost of the repair, including one particularly generous individual - it covered it and then some! I hate asking for things like that, so I try not to do it often, and I can't say how much I appreciate people helping out when I needed it. With that out of the way though, back to our regularly scheduled content!
So my laptop's keyboard stopped working last night. Got someone to look at it, and will cost about $250 to fix. MUCH better than I thought it'd be - I figured at least $500 - but that doesn't negate the simple fact that I don't have much of any money. Most of what I had from previous summer jobs and music sales I spent on college textbooks. With my internship I don't have the time to get a summer job, and I was so busy last semester that I couldn't work during the school year. Long story short,
