So who wants a clear Tahu mask?

While I do have eventual plans to use some of these on MOCs, and whatnot, let's face it. I have a bunch of this mask just sitting in a bag. I've never planned on hoarding them (contrary to the common refrain on my favourite image board ), and though I plan on handing them out at cons (like I did at Cascade a few weekends ago and will at BrickfairVA in a few months), that still leaves me with a lot of them. I'm not interested in selling them (and I'm not sure I'd be technically allowed to consid

NYCC Stuff

I'm going to do a write-up about the entire NYCC trip, but I want to edit my photos first. For now, here's the image of all the parts and masks I ended up with after NYCC. But first, a little explanatory background:   Several months ago, I got an email from a woman on the LEGO CEE team, asking if I wanted to be part of a project she couldn't tell me about. I, of course, said "uh, only absolutely." She sent me an NDA, and I signed it. The next email started out with: "So we're bringing BIONICLE b

So guys: BricksCascade and Brickfair.   BricksCascade is the first weekend in June, and Brickfair the first weekend in August.   I am the coordinator for both, as we've previously established.   And, as also previously established, if you send me MOCs for BricksCascade, you will not only be eligible for one of our FOUR BIONICLE trophies (hand-made and designed by yours truly), but I can also take them to appear at Brickfair as well, for NO ADDITIONAL COST. Yes, this would mean I'd have your MOCs

8 Brickfairs in Virginia

I have attended every single Brickfair in Virginia since it began in 2008. We started with a core little group of BZP staffies which I was quick to join, being promoted to staff while at Brickfair itself that first year. What a crazy ride it's been since then!   We're down to just two of those first handful of Brickfair folks these days, just Andrew and myself. This has sort of made me sad, and probably him a little too, but something about this year sort of turned that around for me.   For a lo

Rocka Xl

As mentioned in the last entry, I don't have any LEGO parts up here in Oregon. Luckily, Maddison has a few sets. I wanted to build something, so I took her Rocka XL down from the shelf, and rebuilt him. This is all from just the one set, and there's only about fifteen pieces left over, mostly pins. It's not anything serious (hence the blog entry, and not a topic in the BBC). Anyway, enjoy.     |

IGNITION

So Maddison and I have been doing this thing where we attend not just LEGO conventions, but also pop-culture/comic/nerd conventions here in town too. It's been a lot of fun, and she's been working on cosplaying a lot too. We've done two since Christmas, at one she was a femme Tony Stark (Toni Stark?) from a gender-swapped movie universe, and this newest one she threw together a Kanaya from Homestuck. I have pictures of the Kanaya for the moment, I need to edit the Toni Stark ones still.

Rogue One

I didn't like it. It was bad. I'm really upset about this.

California

We have been in California now for... ten days? We're currently hotel livin' it up outside of the tippy-top of North-East San Diego, halfwayish between my work and Nukaya's LEGOLAND lifestyle. It's been really weird. Like, I always knew palm trees were a thing. But you guys. They are a THING.   Also no one told SoCal that it is winter? Today was 80F.   Like??? Why do I even own jackets.   LEGOLAND is cool though. We went the other day and I liked it.   I am missing PDX something fierce, though.

Hitting the Trail

So in January we took a chance and moved to the San Diego area.   Almost nine months later, we're moving back to Portland. I constantly hear people down here say "I'm so glad I can live in paradise" and I wonder what they're talking about. It's hot- it's always hot. There is no public transit. The sun is always there, always watching, always beaming, always hot. It's miserable. It's hot. People aren't friendy- they are a weird mix of suburban wealth, military base families, and beach-looks-obses

Cascade

So I fly out for Portland (still weird to say that) Thursday pretty early, and I'm stoked. Let's do this.   I'm bringing more MOCs than I've ever brought to a convention before, which is crazy, because I felt like I had a ton of MOCs at BrickfairVA, but this is somehow even more (at least six more?)   I'm ready to be back home for a few days and to eat all the food I miss and see the sights and the people I miss. My old store is the one nearest the convention center too, so I'm excited to spend

Finally did the thing

I've never owned a handheld video game system in my entire life. My family wasn't very well off, and we could never afford them, though we did end up with a Sega Genesis, N64, and a Gamecube. Most of those were because my dad worked for Blockbuster Video back in the day, and then worked/works at a Sam's Club, and got them on the cheap. Also, the Gamecube came with Wind Waker and was a birthday present for all three of us in one go, so I guess it was affordable that way?   I digress,   Maddison a

What it is

I'm alive! And with all my teeth still in my head! Folks will have to find game tokens elsewhere. Oh well!   There's been probably the biggest amount of personal stress and change in parts of my life ever the past few months, and I've been focusing so fully on that I had stepped away from BZPower for the last several months. The stress and changes all worked themselves out in the best possible ways recently, but I debated continuing to be stepped away as I've recently felt much less welcome by a

Madness

Here's some stuff!   | |   KORGOT | SOUZAN | GALI   I went crazy and just took a few photos of all three MOCs I had lying around. I finished Gali before Brickfair, Korgot immediately after, and Souzan I finished a week ago. Have all of them today!

Brickfair 2014

So Brickfair was pretty amazing. We arrived Tuesday afternoon, and hung out with Andrew once he arrived. We did set up Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I won the Batman Ultrabuilds set in a door prize raffle. I talked with Peter Espersen for awhile. I manned a mean mean check-in desk. Maddison won TLG's convention Batman's 75th contest. Played a mean game of Cards Against Humanity with Andrew, Maddison, Aaron, David, Gabe, and Jamison. Trisha and her friend Andrew showed up and played too! Witho

Your opinions are wrong

Unless you agree that the new Fall Out Boy album is pretty much going to be the greatest thing ever.   You have no idea how much I just keep thinking about it and getting excited and AHHHHHHAHSHSKJAHGK;GH;KH;K!!   I WANT THIS ALBUM SO BADLY AND I DON'T EVEN CARE WHAT YOU THINK

Pros and Cons

Well, just purchased tickets to NYC for October. Looks like NYCC is finally a reality!   Excited for the BIONICLE, as well as our first trip to NYC. I hear good things! (Also I'm going to buy the heck out of a NYC Starbucks mug!)

What Shall I Do With These?

I've been waiting for these to show up for weeks now. I'm not complaining, I know that the online Pick-a-Brick is all done by hand, and all in Denmark, so I understand it takes time. But these showed up yesterday and I'm so so so glad they did because now I can really get started on my Brickfair 2012 MOC project.

Pumpkins and stuff

Sorry I suck at updating this, Nukaya and I have been doing a lot of traveling and I've been doing so much photo editing and stuff that I kind of forgot! We went down to Oklahoma for a week and a half of October, because I was in the wedding party for two separate weddings on two consecutive weekends. It was a good time and we got to see almost everyone I know down there, and I got to take Maddison to the OKC Bombing Memorial and the Tulsa Zoo and we bought her an OKState Track and Field shirt a

A few things

If you are not a premier member, you're not allowed to keep using your blog. So stop.   Also, I am at Brickfair with lots of other awesome people, and it is awesome. As per the usual.   Also also, you can indeed talk about evolution on BZPower, because it's science, not religion or politics.
