360 To-buy List, And Also Which One?

Necro

So, I'm not going to have the money for at least a month or so to do so, but especially if I can rope my brother into paying half, with the games in the entry below, I think I can justify a 360. I'm likely to buy a lot more from the titles you guys recommended, but for now, here's what I'm looking at:

Mass Effect

Mass Effect 2

Final Fantasy XII

Batman: Arkham Asylum

One extra controller

Not all at once of course, but all within a short period after buying the system. I'd also like to get at least one multiplayer-oriented game if my brother's going to help with it(I know it eliminates a huge number of titles, but he's not a big fan of shooters or sports games), but that's not why I'm making the entry. The entry is rather here for me to ask the opinions of some people who own one or both, know how often the hard drive is an issue, and know how big an average game file is.

There aren't any Kinect titles out that really interest me right now, so I'm not going for either model that includes a Kinect, but I'm not sure whether or not the extra $100 for the hard drive model is worthwhile? It's over fifty times the capacity, but the Wii only has 512MB internal storage, and I've never had storage issues these past five years, so I'm not sure if I'll really use the extra space?

Don't forget the upcoming Mass Effect 3.

But ya, looking into a harddrive is certainly something you should do; my cousin got a four gig Xbox, and he isn't that serious of a gamer, yet I'm constantly getting yelled at by Reach that his harddrive is almost full. Maybe Xbox save files are bigger or something, but four gig apparently isn't that great.

DON'T get the 4GB version. Some games won't even play on the 4GB version. I cannot comprehend why they're even selling it. It's simply not enough room for... anything.

I guess Wii files are just smaller in comparison to Xbox files. The 4GB is a ripoff.

The thing sounds like a bloody jet engine unless you install games to it and play them off of the console. Four Gigs really won't cut it for that. And if you're planning on getting anything from the marketplace (DLC, full games, etc) you're going to be even more pressed for space.

I got the Xbox 360 Elite just before they released that new slimmed down version. I'm probably not the best person for advice on space like this. I have almost all of my games installed on my console and saves files for them, and don't have any problems.

I would recommend Dragon Age and The Orange Box.

A majority of multiplayer games are shooter so... Borderlands is a pretty fun game even thought it is a shooter, it makes for a RPG that you can play with someone else. You could go with a fighting game. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is pretty sweet.

Don't underestimate stores either! If you're unsure go to a store and play a demo of the game, or you could even rent games from places.

The new one isn't that loud, Shine.

@ Sisen: I kinda thought Dragon Age was boring and a bit disappointing, especially when you compare it to Mass Effect, which came out before it. If you want to play a classic Bioware RPG, Jade Empire is good. And for old Xbox. So really cheap.

I've had a 20GB model for about three years now, and I'm only now running low on space. Granted, I don't download that much stuff, but I'm still surprised it's lasted this long. Worst comes to worst, you can just get a USB flash drive and use it for extra storage space.

I've never installed a game from the disc onto the hard drive, and frankly I don't see why anyone would, it just takes up unnecessary space.

You must play the Assassin's Creed games, they are amazing. Well, AC2 and Brotherhood, at least. AC1 is still enjoyable though.

NO, IT IS NOT

Once I finish it, I don't ever plan on playing it again. I'm going to finish it for the story before I get the second and Brotherhood, but it gets really repetitive.

AC2 is the best in the series broterhood's campaign was a let down story wise.

As me and my cousin have talked about in the past;

"Good lord dude what do you do to your disks?"

"Eh, I toss them in a pile."

"Dude this is fifty bucks that go down the drain if you stretch it up too much."

"Ya, but I have no space."

Sure, taking good care of your disks can keep this away, but I'd definately say go with something bigger than four gig; it's basically a piece of junk that gets used up if you play more than five games. I can't even play Firefight on Reach because of it.

For the record, the only exclusive that 360 has is Halo, so unless you're big into the "REINVENTION" of the shooter, or not a fan of the only controller that has survived almost twenty years now, the PS3 is vastly superior.

That and Best Buy'll give you 50$ in gift card format if you purchase one!

I'd like to see the specs that make the PS3 outweigh the Xbox 360, because otherwise it's simply a matter of opinion.

That and then I couldn't play Necro on Live [/selfish]

To be fair, the game that's pushing it over the edge is Mass Effect, and while ME2 and ME3 are going to be on the PS3, it's cheaper, I'm poor, and I can go through all three games without Commander Generic Awfulchoices Shepard for ME1, so that'd be a bit counterintuitive.

From my point of view, if every game you want is on the 360 and there's one exclusive that is the deciding factor, then I'd say the 360 will be the better option... unless you want a bunch of PS3 exclusives, or something.

I dunno if I'll buy ME3 yet, I sort of got bored during the second installment and I haven't yet finished it. Though, the fact I miss out on story and stuff with the DLC releases always makes me more interested in reading the books than playing the games. =/

I am not a fan of the only controller that has survived almost twenty years now.

It's like it was made for tiny hands - I just don't fit it.

The 360 controller on the other hand, fits me peeeeerfect.

And that is why I do not play PS3 unless I have to.

You see, I have huge hands too, but the Dualshock is just so much more intuitive than the 360 controller, for me at least, though at that point we're arguing semantics because neither system really has too many exclusives anymore and most of the best games are on both anyway. Though I will admit, it's only fighting games I have a hard time playing on the 360 controller.

I personally find the Xbox's controller way easier on my hands than the PS3. I picked an Xbox's controller and automatically got into it. I picked up a PS3's controller and I was all "wat".

To be honest, if I was going on controller alone, I'd go with a PS3 - I have a PS1 and a PS2, so I'm already very familiar with the Dual-Shock's layout, though it seems every developer maps all the shape buttons other than X for something different. I would've loved to see this come to fruition though, if only because it gives me a controller I can laugh at while playing.

The 360 Controller is like a bigger bulkier Dualshock 3 controller with the left analog stick and D pad switched around and buttons farther away from each other and triggers AND bumpers instead of two trigger buttons.
