Aquazone Sets

I recently got in an order that was a first for me in a couple of ways.

1: I bought it from out of the country; from good old Canada. I'm not sure that I'd do it again; shipping was expensive and it took forever to arrive. Stupid customs...

2: I actually purchased some old, used sets in their entirety.

I got two Aquanaut sets (Sea Spirit 9 and Crystal Crawler) and an Exploriens set (Planetary Decoder).

This is my first Exploriens set. (Sadly, I got into Space as it was kind of dying out in the 90s, so I only had a couple of UFO and Insectoids sets) I wouldn't say I'm too impressed by the design, but it has some nice elements in cool colors. I'll keep it together for a while, but it'll prolly be scrapped for parts soon.

The Sea Spirit 9 is kinda pathetic as a sub goes, but it has some octagonal bricks and cones, a blue windscreen, and my favorite Aquanaut minifig (hey, that head piece looks familiar). I've already torn it apart and incorporated its pieces into my large sub.

The Crystal Crawler, on the other hand, it a very nice design; nice enough that I might just review it in my blog soon (need pictures of it to do it right). This one has not been torn apart yet, because I do like it alot.

Funnily enough, I think that with all the pieces I've bought to build my sub, I could create all the Aquanaut subs from all the sets (well, just the sub from the large one... because I don't quite have enough to build the undersea headquarters) I might do that after the convention season this year... depends on how attached I am to my large sub by then. (But hey, I have the bulk of it designed on LDraw, so I could always just rebuild it)

Anyway... I've been pondering buying these sets for the last two months... actually bought it earlier this month and have waited over two weeks for it to show up... so now I'm happy. Broke, but happy.

Because money can't buy you happiness... but it can buy you Lego bricks, which is just about the same thing.
