Language Of The Mad

I used to think that playing with pure Mercury would be fun, but then my professor told me horror stories that make it sound not worth the risk. I know it's safe when handled properly, but I'll leave that to the professionals.

Apparently there's something called Elemental Mercury that cannot be absorbed by the skin, therefore is not toxic to handle. However the fumes are still nasty, so it has to be no more than 5 minutes or so.

I'm not familiar with Elemental Mercury. Doesn't really sound much better, though.

 

Ironically enough, despite my above statement, I do have two small pieces of cinnabar ore on my desk which might contain liquid mercury inside (but probably don't). They're perfectly safe as long as you don't lick them.
