Also Seasons was originally a remake of the NES LoZ, so that could be one reason the premise felt weaker.

Yes, Onox dragon is awesome.

But you only see Onox twice in the whole game. At the very beginning, and at the very end.

 

Veran was an active character in Ages, and possesed multiple people, and caused events to happen...

You know, actual villian stuff.

There pretty low compared to other titles. I haven't played Minish Cap, but I'd rank them as being just below Link to the Past.
