Wow. I really just think you don't like the show anymore, given this and your commentaries during season 3.

 

It was surprisingly not that bad to me.

I came into the game pretty late, so I have no idea what brony interpretations you might be seeing.

Ehh, I dunno. I haven't seen any evidence for these personality changes you're talking about (except for maybe Pinkie who just keeps getting more obnoxious). Care to provide some examples?

Well mainly Pinkie Pie, as you pointed out. Fluttershy also has been a major coward as of late, and is afraid to just do anything really.

 

You might understand if you'd rewatch season one and then any season three episodes. I think I just look into these things too much.

I'll give you Pinkie. But FS has been acting cowardly since the beginning of Season 2, which was likely in development long before anyone responsible for the show cared about the Brony movement (if they ever did at all).

 

Another thing to consider is that changes like this happen often in movie series and TV shows (look up 'flanderization'). While I imagine it can sometimes be driven by fan expectations, I doubt that's what we're seeing here.

I never really noticed it in early season two, it more towards the halfway mark/season three.

 

I don't have too many examples from season two, because again, I didn't really notice it. But let's just think: In Dragonshy, she's running around trying to get everyone's attention and is calling for help. In the other seasons she's too scared to do anything like that. And the other two season did come after the pony fandom.

This is just how it seems to me and is totally just my opinion.

I guess to be fair, there were visual 'Derpy' gags starting with 2.04 so I guess there was enough awareness of the fandom in time to throw that gag in there. But I still think you're overthinking this a bit.

Egh, I get the idea people normally overreact when they freak out about all the panda rings in the latest seasons. You need to form a distinction between shout out to the fans and the animators just having a bit of fun. Besides, it's not as though it harms the quality of the show, you have to go out of your way to look for them.

 

But that said, Equestria Girls was truly horrific and watching it felt like getting my teeth pulled. I have difficulty deciding my least favourite moment. It was either the cafeteria dance sequence or Luna proving herself to be horrendously inept. Or it could be Trixie's cameo or...I could be here a while.
