When it comes down to it, the same thing happened to the MLP fandom as does so many things, not just fandoms:
 
It got so big it started losing its core identity.

I'll be honest, I know plenty of groups and fandoms that like to team up on individuals the moment they differ from the norm. It's both ironic and unfortunate that it ever happens in the MLP fandom, of course.

Fairly certain that is the least of the issues in that fandom.

It's one of the many, but I don't think it's the least.

I dislike the culture that permeates most fandoms.
 
Bronies have much bigger problems, though.

I'm afraid to ask, but is there any specific incident you're thinking of? Or are you just talking in general?
